Sick kitty!  :(

Saturday we were feeding him half a pouch of whiskas with 20g of go cat for each meal with some Dreamies treats before bed. No problems. Sunday we fed him a while pouch and 20g of Go Cat for breakfast and supper. He munched on the Go Cat up until bedtime. No treats. He had normal bowel movement Sunday morning and peed ok. This morning I heard him in the upstairs litter box, normal bm (at 2:45). Then at 5:15 I hear a noise that I thought was him vomiting. Got up to find his poop from 2:45, and two mushy but not full water poops in the hall. One outside our bathroom door and one before the steps to come back downstairs. Bathroom door one was good size other was small. He hid under the bed. We got him to come out after  assuring him. Came downstairs and he did a gassy mushy poop in downstairs litter box. At least I know the others were poop...but why is he having diarrhoea?

It wasn’t time for him to eat so I waited until his normal feed time and boiled some chicken breasts. He ate 0.60 oz. 20 mins later, full water poop.

I’m going to call SSPCA to see exactly what they gave him there. She told me whiskas so I’m pretty sure that’s not it but i thought she said Purina. Husband thought it was specifically Go cat so we went with that.

He was sleepier yesterday but he’s a cat and it was rainy like it is today. I’ll post a pic of current position. He seems fine otherwise.

If it is the same food, what are your thoughts? Could it still be stress after almost two full days?

Poor kitty! It could be the food or treats, even a different flavor, or just the sudden change from the adoption. My kitty will vomit from most treats and I'm not sure why, so I just give her catnip as a treat occasionally. When we changed the flavor of her food because the store was sold out of the usual she got sick for a couple days too. Some cats just have a sensitive tummy. :(

Hmm that could be it then. I think he got chicken or poultry flavour whiskas Saturday and Sunday morning but  yesterday for supper I gave him flavour. No pukes just poops so far. He’s been napping for the most part beside me so he doesn’t seem like his tummy is hurting or anything. Hope it’s passed

Is he drinking?

A few sips but not much. He guzzled water last night after chomping on the last of the go cat before bed. He didn’t drink much Saturday. There wasn’t a lot of volume in any of the mushy poops except the first one but it wasn’t even a medium size poop. The last watery poop was very small

If my cat so much as sniffs any food other than dry cat food, he barfs.  He's very sensitive.  My other one was too.  They were nicknamed the Vomiteers for a reason.   :D

It's likely to be a change in food, in combination with the stress of moving (even though he doesn't LOOK stressed - look at him!).  I'd keep an eye on him today and call the vet if you don't see any improvement.  It'll take a bit of time for the chicken to get into his system and hopefully bulk him back up.

Seems to be the food. Called SSPCA (they cover expenses for 7 days after rehoming) and she said they gave him purina one sensitive. She said it’s either that or a combo of that and stress. He woke back up a bit ago and drank a good bit of water.

Glad to hear that it seems “normal”.  It took some time for me to find the right food for mine after we moved to the U.K.  They are Purina One in the USA and I bought that here - only it was a different formula and really upset my boys tummy.  Tried Hills and he was back to normal.  So does take some trial and error.

Yea the girl said they give all their cats sensitive biscuits because they’ve found too many cats can’t deal with other formulas. Luckily husband’s work site is behind an Asda so he’ll pick up a bag on his way home. Until then, still have some chicken and may try his wet food for lunch. He’s been on his bed and looked at the window for a good bit. I think he’s feeling a little better. No poops since 745!

If you don't find any kitty takers, put it out for the birds (soften it with a bit of water first), they'll thank you for it.  :)

So we tried to get his Purina One Sensitive dry food last night but none of our stores had it. Asda was out of stock online and Tesco would’ve made it £10 with delivery so...we joined the Zooplus community. Ordered both types of food, harness and lead for car rides (he despises the carrier) and a few other things to get the free shipping. It’s already shipped! Hopefully it’ll be here in the next day or two.

Meanwhile he ate an ounce of chicken yesterday and a pouch of wet food. No more poops yet but is peeing fine. Happy kitty 😸

Don't forget to look for a 5% off your first order coupon and if you are going to be a regular user it's worth joining their savings plan for 5% off all orders. It's best value to take the 3 year plan and pays for itself in no time if you are a regular shopper.

I didn’t see the 5% at all. Where can we sign up for the savings plan? We’ll definitely be ordering from them on a regular basis for his food alone.
