Didn't you have a clash with Sirius that because you had two speeding tickets you should burn in the depths of hell?  ;D

It wasn't his speeding tickets that I was talking about when I said about getting a solicitor, it was his..ermm..well you read his post and we talked about it in pm. ;D Anyway, he doesn't want to talk about that stuff anymore. ;)

I believe it comes from the times of riding horses and knights carrying swords. Back in the day, they would ride on the left side of the road, because their sword was carried and handled on the right... therefore they could easily draw their sword with the correct hand and fight someone coming from the other direction.

Driving on the right started in France and the US when they introduced horse-drawn wagons.

See: https://www.worldstandards.eu/cars/driving-on-the-left/

That is definitely some interesting history. Makes sense. I found the part about Samoa changing from right to left more recently also very sensible with the ability to buy cheaper left side driving vehicles from Japan, etc.
Living with my love in Cumbria!

Fun fact: when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia, he switched them from driving on the left overnight.  I think another country has since made the switch voluntarily.

Yep, definitely - I transferred some money from my UK account to my US account last week... I sent the money on Tuesday evening and it was in my US account by Thursday morning.

It's even quicker coming the other way (for small amounts anyway) my money usually arrives same day!  :)

Remember that you are married now, and you can lean on your spouse for financial assistance.

You know what they say... ..."what's mine is mine and what's his is ours!"  ;)

Excellent! Another person aware of Culture shock!  Now I don't sound like the lone conspiracy theorist in the room.

Who doesn't believe?  When I went to the US, it took me three years (I am not kidding, that's how long it took me to get used to things there and really start to feel settled) to get over the culture shock!  ;D

That's the reason why spiral staircases in castles go in the direction they do, it gives the advantage to the person coming down!  :)

I don't have my license yet but I bought a new car several months ago with the intent of being able to practice so I could get my UK license. I've driven it about 5 times now and 4 of those times were an absolute necessity as I had doctor appointments.

I feel so awkward because it's like I don't know how to drive. I do but I don't.  And I don't like it that my car shuts off while I'm stopped so I stop it from doing that by keeping my foot on the clutch. I sit there thinking, I'm never going to get this enough to pass a freaking test.

This!

Who doesn't think culture shock is a thing?

I still don't feel 100% settled here, and I've been here almost 8 years.   :-\\\\

Though, I'm trying to tell myself it's because I'm in London and everything here is very temporary and transient - it's hard to put down roots and find a community.  I've been renting the same flat for 4 years, and the flat next door has changed hands at least 7 times.  I don't even bother learning the neighbors' names anymore.

All right, I've had enough!  I hereby challenge Sirius to an epic public battle of some sort, with the looser giving £25 to charity.  Just like Logan Paul and KSI.

We could do it at the blizzard party if you guys can find a venue with a Turkish wrestling ring

If not we could go to Tami's hotel room

Do you have my room bugged? How did you get photos from my weekday mornings?
