Extending Initial 6 month marriage visa
« on: September 15, 2018, 03:57:40 PM »
Hello!

I have a quick question regarding switching from my 'fiancé' visa to my 'married visa'.  I came to the UK in April on my 6 month fiancé visa.  We were married in August and I am working on doing my next application online.  My question is about my partner's nonapplying children.  He has a 19 year old daughter and a 15 year old son who lives with us half of the time.  I'm assuming I don't have to include his daughter as she is over 18 and away at university.  When I say yes regarding his son, I'm asked to provide his mother's birth certificate and utility bills?  I don't have access to those.  And then it asks his son's normal living arrangement and the options are:

You (me)

My husband

You and your parther

Other

I'm very confused about this question.  Any enlightenment would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

Dawn

You are correct that you don’t need anything for the 19 year old.

For the 15 year old, you need his birth certificate, passport, and a letter received in the post in the last 90 days to his primary address.  If you don’t have a letter, you can request one from his school or GP.

The question is just the honest answer.  Where is his primary address?  With you and your husband or with his mother (other)?

Best to do the paper form rather than the online application. The online questions are trickier and we can't help you as well because we can't see them. The system can be glitchy and you are still going to have to print and physically send the form anyway so you are not even saving a tree!

Thank you!

I guess I was just reading more into the question than I needed to.  His primary address is his mother's even though he spends every other week with us, so I'll get a letter with that address.

Thanks again for your help … as you know, we all get a little stress out around visa time!

ps … in regards to the most recent post … it is the FLR-M application, right?  I was just looking at it online and thinking it looked simpler!

Another question … I'm assuming it's easiest to keep all my questions in the same thread …

As I came on a fiancé visa, should I se,nd all the proof of meeting, how we stayed in touch, etc that I sent with the initial application along with  some pics of us since I came back and a wedding photo?  Do I need to send all of that initial stuff again is what I'm am curious about.

Thanks!!

Yep, it’s easier for us to remember your situation and what advice you’ve already been given if everything is in one thread :).

No, you don’t need to send any of that this time... except maybe 1 photo just to show again that you have met.

The previous evidence was to prove a long-distance relationship because you couldn’t live together in the same country.

However, now, you are married and living together, so instead of your communication evidence, you send evidence of living together in the U.K.

So for the relationship evidence this time, you send:
- your marriage certificate
- 1 photo of you together
- 6 documents in each name, sent to the same address as each other, spread evenly over the time you have lived together and from at least 3 different official sources... but since you have only recently arrived in the U.K., you may not have enough mail in your name yet, so if you cannot provide 6 documents, you just need to write a letter explaining why not.

Thank you so much!  I was assuming all of that was a bit redundant and not relevant to my current situation.  I do have a couple documents from my student loan that have my UK address and hoping to get to the bank tomorrow morning to add me to the bank account, but other than that, I'll have to write a letter.  At least I'll have a couple of things though.   We also have the letter addressed to my spouse from the council that states they are adding me as a household member and he will not qualify for the single adult discount.

Thanks again for the quick reply.  I'm sure I'll be back again with a few more questions!

On last question (I think!) … and I'm sure the answer is somewhere on the forum but just wondering if there is a specific order I should put my documents in when sending off my marriage visa extension.  I did switch to the paper application, as well, which was much simpler and straight forward!

Thanks for all the help!  It's so nice to have somewhere to go with these things!

Put the form first then your admin documents. Then financial, accommodation and relationship evidence. Don't forget to send copies of everything except the form and any letters addressed to them which they will keep in any case.

It is a good idea to make a copy of the application to keep for yourself.  It'll make the next application much easier to simply reference past dates and addresses instead of having to remember everything.

So, I posted off my application & the payment was taken at the beginning of the month but I've yet to receive any letter. Should I be concerned? I did go the fiance route, so I've already had my biometrics done.

Thanks!

You need to repeat the biometrics with every visa. It's so they know you are who you say you are.
You should be getting your biometric invitation letter any time now. The payment has been taken so you know that they have your application.  :)

That's what I was guessing, but just wanted a bit of reassurance. I was sure I had read somewhere on the forum that it was taking awhile to get the letters out.

Thanks again!👍
