Question regarding my wifes employment status
« on: September 16, 2018, 01:33:22 PM »
Hi,

My wife is due to apply for our Spouse Visa Renewal FLR(M), shortly.

We were discussing what we need and one of the things is her proof of income and employment status.

She has been working at the local council for around 8 months, but this was originally a 6 month contract.

Only for the past 2 months has she been permanent. Is this an issue?

She has always (for the full 8 months) been earning over the amount required for her to qualify. She has 6 months of payslips to prove her income during the last 6 months and can get the bank statements to back this up.

Should we include both of her job contracts (her original 6 months contact and her more recent permanent one)?

Thanks :)

It’s not an issue - there is no requirement to have a permanent job.

Yes, I would probably include both contracts.

She’ll need to provide:
- 6 FULL months payslips
- 6 FULL months bank statements showing the deposit of every payslip
- a letter from her employer stating ALL of the following:
i) current employment and salary
ii) length of employment
iii) length of time earning current salary
iv) type of employment (full or part time, permanent or temporary)

Optional but recommended:
- original job contract(s)
- latest P60

Thank you Ksand24 !

And her current length of employment isn't an issue? She wouldn't need to provide details of her previous role?

Thank you!

As long as she has been with the same employer for at least 6 months, it is not an issue.

If she has changed employers in the last 6 months then she will need to meet the requirements under Category B and show that she has earned at least £18,600 in total before tax in the last 12 months. If you have been working in the last 12 months, you can also combine your income with hers to meet the £18,600 requirement.
