Biometric Residence Permit?
« Reply #75 on: November 01, 2018, 08:20:01 PM »
I just ran into another question for you all. I came across my "biometric residence permit" in my wallet from when I was working with a charity and lived in Northern Ireland for two years (during which time I met my husband).

Should I include this card along with all my other documents? There is nothing online that specifically says I should include it. But since it was my proof of residence while I was on my visa I started to think maybe I should include it in the spouse application along with all my other documentation just in case. Maybe I could at least make a copy of both sides of the card and send it along with everything else?

Has anyone had a similar residence permit due to their time as a worker or student in Northern Ireland? Would appreciate your thoughts and advice on whether or not to include it in my spousal application.

I don’t believe you need to include it because it’s no longer valid and is irrelevant to your application.

Unless, of course you wanted to use it in your proof of relationship if you lived your sponsor while you were in the U.K. (I.e. if your address on the BRP was the same as your sponsor’s address)

Great! Thanks!

Which Documents Should I Copy?
« Reply #78 on: November 01, 2018, 09:26:36 PM »
Alright, we getting so close to hitting the go button on the application and I'm just trying to get ahead of all the documentation so that it's ready to go when we are.

Out of the list below, is there anything else I should be making copies of to insure that the Home Office returns the originals? Is there any documentation that I am "over-copying" that is unnecessary?  (I have typed up the items that I plan to make copies of in blue)

Applicant Documents:
•   Settlement priority service payment receipt
•   Return shipping label
•   Cover Letter/Table of Contents
•   Printed and signed visa application
•   Appendix 2
•   Biometric data submission confirmation
•   My current passport as well as my previous passport
•   1 recent passport-sized photograph of applicant
Sponsor’s Information:
•   Sponsor’s Letter of Support
•   Certified Photocopy of Sponsor’s Passport
Evidence of Accommodation:

•   Original tenancy agreement
•   Letter of Accommodation Support from sponsor’s landlord

•   Letter of support from roommate
Evidence of Sponsor’s Employment and Finances:
•   Sponsor’s original pay slips covering 6 months
•   Printed copy of sponsor’s bank account 6-month history.  Stamped and signed by bank.
•   Employment status/history letter from sponsor’s employer (signed by employer)
•   Sponsor’s employment contract
•   Sponsor’s most recent P60 Certificate

Evidence of Marriage and Relationship:
•   Marriage Certificate
•   1 photo from wedding and 1 from earlier in our relationship
•   All boarding passes from travels to see each other
•   Letters that we have written to one another.
•   FaceTime history screenshots from various points in the last year
•   Facebook Messenger screenshots showing consistent correspondences throughout our relationship

Thank you!

Everything as in, what I've listed in Blue, or everything meaning... everything?

Personally, I would send a copy of the entire application, apart from the application forms.

But before you send it, keep a copy of the application forms for yourself, you'll find that useful when you make your next application.

A little confused about what to copy

Ok so basically send copies of everything except the actually printed application and the appendix 2? Should I make copies of the photo page of my passport, the return shipping label, facebook messages we've sent to each other, etc.?

I was planning on making copies of everything and keeping it all at home with me just incase something happened to the documents we mail, and to keep as a record for future applications. But I kind of thought if there was stuff we didn't need to copy unless we really needed/wanted the originals sent back (tenancy agreement, letters we wrote to each other, etc.) I'm just a little confused and worried about how heavy the package will be if I copy every document and sent all the copies with the application to New York.

Medical and Criminal History
« Reply #85 on: November 05, 2018, 07:20:32 PM »
Do I need to include my medical and criminal history as the applicant? Basically a document form my clinic listing my vaccinations as well as a page from the sheriffs department saying that I have no criminal record. Some of the websites I've been reading recommend including this for the visa application?

If you have any care on the NHS while visiting that needs to be documented and show you've paid, and if you have a criminal record you need to provide those details. But if you don't have either there's no need to add them!

Thank you so much, margo!!!

Do you have any advice on how much of the application I should copy and send along with it? I've been looking online and it seems like they recommend copying my whole passport with visas sending the copy along with. But other people have said not to copy more than you need. But I'm just so confused on what that means.

No, you don’t and any website that recommends it is giving incorrect information.

You only need to include police records if you DO have a criminal record. If you don’t have a record, then it’s irrelevant.

The only medical-related information you need to include is receipts showing payment of NHS treatment if you have ever used the NHS as a visitor... because if you have more than £500 in unpaid NHS debt, it’s an automatic visa refusal.

Basically, we are getting contradictory information from UKVI and VFS. One site says to only send copies and no originals, the other site says to include both copies and originals.

Traditionally you have only needed to send copies of originals you wish to be returned to you.

If in doubt, send copies of everything except the application forms.
