FLR(M) application checklist - please check if you have a minute!!
« on: September 25, 2018, 03:21:23 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am just prepping for my premium appointment next week and was wondering if someone could take a look over my document checklist.

This is my first application made from within the UK and I am transferring from a tier 2 visa.

Applicant documents:
-passport
-previous passport (expired while in uk)
-BRP card
-2 photos

Sponsor:
-british passport
-1 photo

Relationship:
-Marriage certificate (and copy)
-few photos from ceremony and relationship including pics with family and friends, travels, etc

Employment financials:
-Letter from employer confirming terms of employment
-6 months printed payslips stamped and signed (April, May, June, July, august, September) I get paid on the 24th so latest payslip if for September
-corresponding bank statements showing the payslips being deposited into account (most recent is a half statement from HSBC printed in branch with accompanying letter)
-copy of original employment contract from 2015, stamped/signed
-copy of p60 from last year, stamped/signed

English:
Passport

Accommodation:
-Amended tenancy agreement with both our names on it, spouse lived there previous 1.5 years
-Council tax from sept in both names
-DVLA letter applicant
-mortgage assessment from bank (could include)
-letter explaining we moved in together Sept 2018 and therefore do not have 6 items of correspondence

Additional:
-FLRM form, completed in black ink by hand
-IHS confirmation email
-payment/booking confirmation email
-signed declarations

Question:
-The tenancy agreement is done electronically. Should I have a letter from the agency to accompany it or will the printed document be sufficient?

Thanks very much for any feedback!!!

Do you have anything from the letting agency or landlord with a wet signature?  I take it the electronic tenancy agreement doesn't have actual signatures?  If a representative from the agency (or even better, the landlord) can provide a letter confirming the electronic agreement with a wet signature, that would be ideal.

Also, sponsor letter?

You don’t need a sponsor letter for an FLR(M) Premium appointment, as the sponsor will be there in person.

In terms of your documents, you don’t need the following:
-few photos from ceremony and relationship including pics with family and friends, travels, etc

Since you will be applying in person, you don’t really need ANY photos, but if you want, I would take 1 from the wedding and 1 from earlier in the relationship. ONLY you and your sponsor should be in them, no family for friends. The photo is purely to prove you and your sponsor have met at least once in person.

The following documents should be in the relationship evidence section, not the accommodation evidence section:
-Council tax from sept in both names
-DVLA letter applicant
-mortgage assessment from bank (could include)
-letter explaining we moved in together Sept 2018 and therefore do not have 6 items of correspondence

So, to just rearrange the documents into the correct order:

Applicant documents:
- FLR(M) application form
- appointment payment confirmation
- IHS payment confirmation
-passport
-previous passport (expired while in uk)
-BRP card
-2 photos

Sponsor documents:
-british passport
-1 photo

Employment financials:
-Letter from employer confirming terms of employment
-6 months printed payslips stamped and signed (April, May, June, July, august, September) I get paid on the 24th so latest payslip if for September
-corresponding bank statements showing the payslips being deposited into account (most recent is a half statement from HSBC printed in branch with accompanying letter)
-copy of original employment contract from 2015, stamped/signed
copy of p60 from last year, stamped/signed

Accommodation:
-Amended tenancy agreement with both our names on it, spouse lived there previous 1.5 years

Relationship:
-Marriage certificate (and copy)
- 1 or 2 photos of applicant and sponsor only
- Council tax from sept in both names
-DVLA letter applicant
-mortgage assessment from bank (could include)
-letter explaining we moved in together Sept 2018 and therefore do not have 6 items of correspondence

Notes:
- for the relationship documents, If you haven’t been living together long, I would also include any evidence of communication throughout the entire relationship.
Such as:
- plane/train/bus tickets from trips to see each other
- letters/cards given to each other
- emails/messages/calls logs showing you talked regularly

- Also, you may be asked to prove you have been adhering to the rules of your Tier 2 visa. If you are using your income to meet the requirements, this may be enough, but I would try to bring some evidence of your employment since you arrived in the U.K. on the Tier 2.

Thanks very much, this is a huge help!

Really appreciate it!!

One last silly question - I am filling form in with back ink in capital letters... do I need to put an 'X' in the boxes or a 'check'?

Thank you!!!

I don't suppose it matters all that much but the individual questions ask you to tick the box.

You don’t need a sponsor letter for an FLR(M) Premium appointment, as the sponsor will be there in person.

Thanks, I thought that was the case, but was going through some threads where people included one regardless.

Is the consensus:

In person appointment and sponsor attending: no letter

In person appointment and sponsor unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances: letter

Postal application: letter

I may be wrong, but I think the only circumstance where a letter is needed for FLR(M) is if the sponsor does not attend the in person appointment.

As they sign their life away on the application for FLR(M) by post.  I could be wrong though as we always did in person.

Actually, usually it’s:

In-person application, with sponsor attending = no letter

Postal application = no letter (there is no mention in the documents section of a sponsor letter being needed at all)

In-person application, which sponsor cannot attend = letter needed

However, if the OP was applying by post, as they are switching from Tier 2, I might recommend sending a letter for a postal application, just because this is their first settlement visa, and they won’t have already proved their relationship for a fiancé or spousal visa.

Thanks both for all the comments.

One further question that came up after reading the comments:

‘Also, you may be asked to prove you have been adhering to the rules of your Tier 2 visa. If you are using your income to meet the requirements, this may be enough, but I would try to bring some evidence of your employment since you arrived in the U.K. on the Tier 2.’

How do you think I could prove this? Maybe bring my ID badge or something? Does the employer letter and payslips not prove this?

Also, we both have lived in London... so don’t really have tickets for visiting each other etc. However we have taken some holidays and weekend getaways together, so maybe I could include some evidence of this... do you think this would be useful? Also maybe I’ll include some WhatsApp convos etc...

Thanks again for the help!!
