Sorry to be a first world problemer but the variety of cosmetics and their shades ( NARS, Urban decay, Smashbox) are much less here than in U.S
More selections for Nail polish in U.S.
(In other words, No Sephora in UK )
My comparison is purely based on NY vs London.

Also lack of xxs size ( More smaller sizes available in U.S) and generally more selections for shoes in U.S as well.
U.S teeth whitening brands and their effectiveness, too
I sound like a pain in the neck;)

Sephora is in Paris.  Hey, if you have to do a channel hop to get your makeup...  a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.  Also for small products like cosmetics, I find ebay to help a lot.  I'm still partial to Cover Girl mascara and I can get it on ebay cheaper than I can in the USA.

How often do you guys go back to U.S?

Other than to see your families, what other purposes?

I think I need to go back once or twice a year to shop things I can't get here

There are a lot of things I thought I could get here but I can't

what a first world problem I have lol

Have been here a year and a half, not been back to the USA. Hoping to get back after the New Year to collect some stuff left behind, and for one final 'goodbye' and then don't expect to go back to California again. Might at some point go to New England to visit, but other than to play tourist when the leaves change color (and to go to Target) there's not much of a reason for us to go back.

Daughter says her favorites are available in Dublin, but not here. Cheap flights over for a massive shop?

Beauty and fashion... they are not my departments, haha!  ;D  But it looks like you have some excellent suggestions so far!

I'd just add, there are a few third party shipping sites which will provide you with a US address and deliver things on to you the UK if the site you are shopping on does not ship here.
I've used one once and it went fine.

Tend to be a bit pricey on the shipping, though?

They say they are cheaper because of volume discounting.  And they have an estimator which wasn't bang on but it gave me a fair idea of what to expect before I committed to buy. I'm not sure what mine would have cost otherwise.

It's useful if you fall in love with something and there is no non-US shipping option!  :)

Yeah... The US to UK size number difference still hurts my pride... But as long as I don't keep creeping up the numbers I'm currently okay with where I'm at as I know what the equivalent is in the US.

I am a UK 4.5 in shoes and they don't have them everywhere so I've not been getting a lot of shoes here, which is frustrating.

YES. I lost weight and went from a US size 10/12-US size 6/8. Come here....and I'm in a UK size 10.  ??? [smiley=bigcry.gif]

But that’s a USA 6!  Be happy!!!  That’s awesome. I’d kill to get back in my UK 10’s.  I blame babies.  😉

I keep reminding myself that a UK size 10=a US size 6 and that I haven't gained 4 sizes........Babies will do that to you....but you're a dancer! You said you've been dancing again so you'll get limber and slim back down in no time!!!

I know. It's rough and hurts our feminine pride. I'm  on average a 12. (14/16 at H&M since they run small and I have a large bust) and it really bugs me as I've gained weight in the last 4 years. So I feel you.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Also, sometimes it says US size 6-8 and it's still too tight or fits weird....definitely hurts the pride! lol! I do not have a large bust problem... I've been lucky with tops here. It's shoes and bottoms I'm struggling with! lol!

Yeah...The UK does not accurate size clothing to the listed US sizes or clothing structures we're used to. It's mental.

I wear US size 8 dresses most of the time, but they can be UK size 14.

I super struggle with shoes as I'm a half size. So annoying. And they don't really do brown leather flats!! I really want a pair.

I'm going back to North Carolina for 2 weeks at Thanksgiving. I've been here a year and a half now and I've been back 3 times but my kids are there. If they weren't there, I'd have no reason to go back.

I'm hoping to bring back an extra suitcase this time full of everything i can buy from Target.  Lol

Yes, 2 hours on a Saturday morning teaching toddlers ballet is going to make up for sitting on my ass, eating cake all week.   ;D
