Documents stamped or not?
« on: October 15, 2018, 03:05:08 PM »
Hey all,

Sorry for this because I know it has been stated before. However, I am seeing different answers on threads we some did it and some did not.

I just want to make sure for the payslips and bank statements are they required to be stamped?
I actually don't remember getting anything stamped my first go round but but hey that was 2.5 years ago so maybe I did.

Both the payslips and bank statements are the original copies that come in the mail. So I guess I kinda don't see the point in having to get them stamped and signed.

Any clarification would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Bank statements only need to be stamped if you have printed them at home from online banking. If they are received in the post, they are considered original and do not need to be stamped.

For payslips, if they are original hard copies, either sent in the post or handed to you by the employer, they do not need to be stamped. If they are printed from online, they must be accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the employer.

What if the bank statements are printed in branch? Do they need to be accompanied by a letter of authenticity or stamped?

HI Ksand,

One more question about documents. I want to make sure I have enough of the right documents.

Since the first year of our marriage I was finishing up my PHD and required to live on campus because I was a warden. I have included that contract and a letter to show those conditions.

Therefore I won't have mail to show all 2. 5 years of living together.
We started to live together July 2017.

So I guess my question is in terms of the documents that we need to show proof we live together is it enough?

2 x  Water Bills (Nov 2017, May 2018) with both our names
2 x Council Tax (July 2017, Aug 2017) with both our names
12 x payslips in his name
12 x  payslips in my name.
12 x bank statements in my name.
12 x bank statements in his name.

I guess  i wasn't sure if the payslips and bank statements could be used to not only to show the income but also the address confirmations in order to make for the 12 needed documents to prove address.

Okay, so in that case you write a letter explaining why you could not live together between Oct 2016 and July 2017.

Then if you can, you provide 6 documents in each name covering the period July 2017 up to the date you apply for FLR(M).

If you’re covering July 2017 onwards, so about 16 months, you want 6 documents in each name, from at least 3 different sources, spread evenly over those 16 months, so that’s about 1 document every 2-3 months.

If they are all jointly addressed you only need 6 in total, if they are all separate, you need 12 in total, or you can use a combination of both.

For example, you might include documents from the following months:
July 2017
Nov 2017
Feb 2018
May 2018
Aug 2018
Oct/Nov 2018

At the moment you have:
July 2017
1. Joint council tax bill (source 1)

Nov 2017
2. Joint water bill (source 2)

Feb 2018
3. ?

May 2018
4. joint water bill

Aug 2018
5. ?

Oct/Nov 2018
6. ?

So, for those missing months, you could use bank statements (never quite sure about payslips, but if you have your address on them, then they might work), or if you have any other mail you can use for those months, you can include it, for example:
- electricity bills
- TV licence
- letters from HMRC, DVLA, NHS
- phone bills
- tenancy agreements

Hi,
Thanks for the breakdown.

I do have bills for our phone and such on hand that can be used. I just thought phone wasn't a source they would consider. lol.

That clears it up. Hopefully this package will be ready to send out by the end of the week. I feel just as nervous this time around than I did my first time!
