Here's an album of our experience.

Review:

My British husband found it incredibly salty (as it's American), but he would not oppose going back again to try some different things on the menu. I would have liked more tomato on my sandwich, but that's just a me thing... I love tomatoes.  I regret ordering my hashbrowns with cheese, because I did not specify and the British staff do not understand, so they put crumbled cheddar on my hashbrowns while I was expecting a slice of American (a la Waffle House).  It spoiled the hashbrowns for me because it wasn't what I was expecting, and it spoiled it for my husband because he wanted to compare their hashbrowns to the ones I make (which we don't put cheese on).

The fried shrimp were exactly what you'd expect from a Denny's.  Nice and crispy.

They have something that they claim is "New York Style Cheesecake" that might be the real thing... before we got our food, I had thought we might split a slice for dessert, but we did not have room for it (I'm just not realizing I probably could've ordered it to go).  They also had a banana split on the menu!  I didn't read closely to see whether the "chocolate" topping was chocolate syrup or hot fudge.

Sorry, Tami, they do not have biscuits.

Our waitress was American.  She has been here for 14 months on a Tier 4.  I referred her to UK Yankee, and she may join with visa questions.  Amusingly, another customer at a nearby table was also American (been here for 30 years, married to a Welsh man).  We all had a nice (brief) chat.  It was so fun!  My husband thinks I'm mad.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Lucky You!!!!!  ;D

I'd love a sizzling skillet right now!

Or a nice belgian waffle slam.

Ah, well, will have to wait for it to open locally. I'm thinking the place at the Fort we saw that was vacant/under construction that had the trophy sitting on a saw-horse inside it (we peeked through the cracks) is not going to be it. That would be too logical, somewhere accessable by public transporation OR car. The last I heard it was going to be down south of the Clyde, sort of over by Ikea, but not on the main bus route. So we'd have to drive it (which is tough when we don't own a car) or walk a considerable distance. Or ride on two different bus systems, which would mean the trip there and back would cost the same as the meal!  Fingers are crossed I'm wrong on that location!

They are opening in the former Toby Carvery in Braehead, Nan.

No, so it's INTU BREAHEAD, THE SHOPPING CENTER ? ? ? ?  Not that old closed place (the carvery) south-east of there???

That's what the article says. Intu Braehead. But,  no. I just did a google map. It's down by some car dealership - shows on the map already! At the old Toby Carvery.

Ok Nan. Nevermind on the old Toby Carvery location. That was the update just before they officially announced Intu Braehead. I thought it was the same place but it's not.

So Intu Braehead it is.

Google map has it at the car dealership....?

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Dennys/@55.8681199,-4.3705131,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x48884fe7ead286a1:0xa4be913eff24114d!8m2!3d55.8681199!4d-4.3683244

If it's there, there is no way to get to it by one bus company. The FirstBus 77 is the closest approach. It's route is to Ikea from Queen Elizabeth Hospital and then on the road up to Intu Breahead. The trip planner has me taking a FirstBus bus and then hopping a McGill's bus. Free for me (as I'm old) but it would cost the Daughter 10pounds in bus fares for two all-day tickets, one for each separate bus line. (They don't sell "return" tickets anymore.)

So, looking at Google Earth, I don't see a way to walk from either Ikea or Intu Breahead (which is really too far). Not without darting across like 8 lanes of traffic. Aw, jeez. Must have been planned by Americans. Who don't think in terms of public transportation. :(

I think Swansea.  At least that's where JF was going yesterday for her citizenship thing.

I was curious, so I checked the Denny's website - it is in Swansea :).

Yup, Swansea.  I went to my NDRS+JCAP appointment, then on our way out of Swansea, we stopped in at Denny's for lunch.

This video is 10 minutes long, but it's a guy who goes to the US quite often with his family, and they review chain restaurants in the US and UK.  He has been to American Denny's, and in this video he went to the Swansea one about a week after they opened to compare... It might be useful to you all:

Just mapped it. What the heck is a mumbles?
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
