Missialli, you said:

"I think most people give off a kind feeling."  I think that is lovely!

It can be so hard  to move to  a different culture/country but how exciting to enjoy the differences.

I love having cafes within strolling distance as well.  Our local deli knows us by name now and gets the coffee ready for us on a Sunday morning - and that really goes a long way to helping us settle in.

What an adventure we are all on!

I forgot to include how much I love British history. The history here!!!!!!! Every stone in the road has history.....

I absolutely love it here. All the things I find interesting or bizzare are just more quirky things that make me love the UK :)

Other than the roads being opposite (it intimidates  me) nothing on my list was a real complaint or dislike.

Paid phone calls.

Why do we have to pay to call anyone locally these days?

I find it somewhat... unusual... that you have to pay to phone the police, unless it's an emergency. 8)

Oh, the Daughter had an interesting experience at her job. Old gent came in, and she was helping him. They had to go find another employee because the gent could not understand the Daughter! She speaks with a generic North American accent, very clearly and precisely, and the dear old guy was sooooo Scottish. And couldn't follow what she was saying to him.

That's a first. ;D

#7. I either turn my teeth to ice cubes or scald my tongue when brushing my teeth here. Can we get some WARM or COOL water here?? The UK is a place of extremes!!!

When I read this, I had a flash of genius and had to research if what I thought of already exists and... it does.

I know!! It drives me crazy! I said, "I should've brought a sweater today, it's chilly!" And someone went "DID U MEAN A JUMPAH"

UGH NO I MEANT A SWEATER  >:( >:( >:(
At work, we were working on a new house development brochure and they have garages.

Yep. That word.

So my lovely co-worker and I were dancing around not trying to say it too much because neither of us wanted to look like we were correcting how the other said it. Haha. It was funny. I can't say gare-idge and he couldn't say guh-raj. Good times

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

omg you just made me laugh!!! YES I have hair all under my desk because I shed so much. In the bathroom, I just let it fall into the sink and I scooped it up and threw it in the trash. But nooooo!! They allow shavers....but not everything else! Yeah, let me just toss my hair dryer into the bath!!

Celsius is the worst...I can't see 15 on my phone and know what that feels like. Give me Fahrenheit!

"Dagblasted" XD

And I agree, the UK is the "land of extremes"    ;D

My phone is set to Fahrenheit, so I at least know what temp it actually is when the news talked about it.

It's not quite accurate, but I usually remember it by knowing that 10 C = 50 F and then approximating that for each 5 Celsius higher, you add about 10 to the Fahrenheit number, and each 5 lower you subtract 10:

- 5 C = 20 F (actual is 23 F)
0 C = 30 F (actual is 32 F)
5 C = 40 F  (actual is 41 F)
10 C = 50 F (exact conversion)
15 C = 60 F (actual is 59 F)
20 C = 70 F (actual is 68 F)
25 C = 80 F (actual is 77 F)
30 C = 90 F (actual is 86 F)
35 C = 100 F (actual is 95 F)

Looking at the numbers, it's actually a difference of 9 F between each one, but 10 is easier to remember.

And -40 Is -40 in both.

Never really sat down to think about it. I'm stealing this now!

My rules:

Below 12, wear a coat
16 and sunny, layer a T-shirt with a jumper as in the sun a T-shirt is fine
20 and over wear shorts

I double Celsius and add 32. So:

5 C = 32 + 10 or 42
9 C= 32 + 18 or  60 and so on. It’s close enough for me.

Yeah, the full calculation is: multiply Celsius by 9/5 and add 32, but as 9/5 is 1.8, doubling it is pretty close :).
