Halloween
« on: October 31, 2018, 06:52:28 PM »
I love Halloween!

I can remember Trick or Treaters visiting me (in the UK) 40 years ago.  The outfits have changed over the years.  At one time there would be a stream of little witches with black garbage bags tied around their necks.  I don't think the health and safety brigade would have been happy with that.  A little boy stood on my doorstep once with an old ratty rug around his shoulders and a dogs mask on his face - he was a werewolf.  Three little witches arrived one night with spaces in their teeth which had been blacked out for the occasion. Or at least two of them had blacked out teeth.  The third little one insisted on proudly showing me that she had lost her tooth and so didn't need to black any out.

This year I decorated the front of the house and carved my first pumpkin.  The outfits are much more sophisticated.  Tonight we have had a Sumo wrestler, Harry Potter as well as various witches and zombies, plus a few that I couldn't make out.

And now it is raining and the doorbell is silent.

It was a good night!

How’s my little werewolf compare (oh how I dream of princess dresses) haha

Last year I ran out of candy so I stocked up this year and it’s like crickets. Hardly any kids cane around.

What do you do with left over candy?????

Oh well, I guess it has to be eaten.   Evil (as befits Halloween) cackle.

It’s currently 6pm in Houston and I’m awaiting the children. Last year it was a total washout and it’s been raining all day today. I’ll be surprised if any children come.

Most kids these days do “trunk and treat” at school parking lots or inside churches and schools or do more organized events inside malls. I understand why they do it but it’s a bit sad to me :(

Understandable but nothing beats the ring of the bell and a little horror standing on your doorstep.

glad to see its really taking off over here now, especially being so close to G.F. night,(still cant get used to fireworks going off before ,during, after Halloween). As I live in a flat now, no trick or treaters  for me, but did carve 2 small pumpkins as my daughter was coming over for dinner anyway, and we did manage to go to Farmageddon again this year, tho its getting a bit redundant 4 years in a row..

No trick or treaters for me last night, though I did see 11 different groups of kids and their parents trick or treating during my drive home from work :).

Went to the pub to avoid the wee scroungers, but we rarely have many anyway.  I don't think we had any at all last year.

I see this more and more on my Facebook feed, and I think it's sooooooooooooo sad!

I got home at 20:50 last night so missed the guisers.  That's fine, I don't need a bowl of sweets lying around my house anyways.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
