Good morning everyone!

Thank you again for all of your help, advice and kind words. It really means a lot!

So we bit the bullet last night and hit the submit application button. We paid the fee & the NHS surcharge absolutely fine.

Then we got to VFS Global... Oh dear...

The question I have (I saw it mentioned in another thread but cannot find it again)

What are peoples opinions on the document upload page? It won't let us click past it until we actually upload something. All of our supporting documents are going to be mailed to the scan hub in NY.

What I did was create a PDF with a single page stating the applicant name, the reference number and a message saying that the documents are being mailed in.

It let me past the page after that.

Has anyone done this yet and have any kind of answer? Just my bloody luck that the system changed right as we apply...

Any opinions, educated guesses and facts would be hugely appreciated as usual :)

have a wonderful day!

Alex

Yeah, I don't know what you're supposed to do about the uploading documents page - because it seems they want to introduce uploading documents, but the instructions still tell you to mail everything!

I think someone else has done exactly what you have and has uploaded just one sheet stating that the documents will be mailed.

However, as the uploading page was only introduced on November 1st and no one else has gone through the whole process yet, we don't know how it's all working yet. So, I think at the moment, all you can do is mail in your documents as planned and see what happens.

You submit the online application, pay for the visa and IHS surcharge and book biometrics at a USCIS Application Support Centre (NOT a Premium Centre).

Then you go to the VFS website and register (you’ll need your GWF application number) purchase the priority service and/or shipping labels (under the USA - Application Support Centre). You print the priority receipt and the return label, then put them in your package at the top. If using the outbound shipping, you take your package and the label to UPS, get an envelope from them and mail everything to New York.

On the Biometrics appointment.... is that scheduled for you ? Or do you have to physically call and set an appointment  ???
Thank you

You'll be directed to make the appointment online as part of the application process.

Hello everyone!

Major panic happening right now...

Tried to pay for our priority service and the round trip courier service on vfs global..

My card was declined first yesterday because we were only able to put a US zipcode into the billing address.

Tried just now using a US account and was declined again. This time because the bank froze the account because of a large suspicious transaction.

Called the bank and unfroze the account, waited the 30 minute cool off and tried again. Declined...

I guess others have had problems. Did anyone ever get theirs sorted? Obviously being a government  partner website means that information is vague at best.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Alex

My card declined yesterday too...K also was doing 3 applications and 3 payments each (3 application payment, 3 priority payment and IHS) My bank was the issue though, they kept blocking my cards becaseif the large amounts. I had to eventually split my payments up on 3 cards.

Call your bank again, they kight have froze your cards again or try another card.

Hello everyone!

Last night we finally managed to purchase the priority service and the return shipping.

If its any help to anyone, It seems that the website didn't like debit cards. As soon as we used a credit card it went through straight away. Oh well, only going to lose a bit more money with the exchange rate! :(

I have another question...

It hasn't made it very clear... Do i need to provide an envelope for the return shipping or will they do that as I've paid for the labels? Also, should I wrote "priority service" on the actual package to make sure that it goes in the right pile?

Any hints and tips in the actual sending of the documents would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you

Alex

You don't need to include a return envelope.

For priority, before the move to New York it was very important to write 'SETTLEMENT PRIORITY SERVICE' in large letters on the outermost packaging... so that it would be sorted into priority in the Sheffield mailroom before being opened.

However, I don't know if this has changed with it going to New York now. Does it specify anything in the priority instructions? (It used to give clear instructions on the old VFS website). If in doubt, I would write SETTLEMENT PRIORITY SERVICE' on your package.

Good afternoon!

Thank you once again for your advice.

The instructions on the VFS site are worse than useless... I think I will write on the packet in large letters just to be sure.

I have another question:

I stupidly Googled "Spouse visa refusal reasons" and found a site from a group of.solicitors.

1. Can they really refuse a visa for the wrong coloured ink?

2. Can they refuse if documents aren't in order. There is pretty much zero guidance on what has to go where at the minute and I've obviously done the best I can.

3. In our packet, we have printouts of our facebook chat, 1 page per month that we have been in contact clearly showing the time, date and the names of sender/receiver. We also have a love letter each that we wrote each other and also a couple of birthday cards sent. Is this enough? I really don't want to be refused for inadequate relationship evidence.

4. We have included 2 passport photos of the applicant. I didn't however provide one of me (the sponsor) major panic. Do I really need one??

Her biometrics appointment is on Wednesday this week and we plan to ship the document pack as soon as reasonably possible after we have the confirmation sheet.

Any advice always gratefully received.

Alex

Unless you have serious criminal convictions or bad enough UK immigration history that means you are not eligible to enter the UK, they can only refuse the visa if you either:
- don't meet the financial, accommodation or relationship requirements
or
- don't send the required financial, accommodation or relationship documents

No, they cannot.

No they cannot. It would be extremely hypocritical if they could, considering they don't tell you the order until AFTER you have already mailed everything to them.

Do you have boarding passes/e-tickets for flights taken to visit each other as well? Those will carry more weight than the messages and cards.

Otherwise, the rest sounds fine to me. In fact, you probably have too much for the Facebook evidence. You just want 2-3 pages in total, showing messages from ALL months. No message content needs to be included, just the date, name and time.

For example, I posted this FB message example on another thread this morning:
https://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=94883.msg1259402#msg1259402
(There are 15 messages on there, so that could be 15 months' worth of messages if you are including 1 per month)

No you do not need one. And in fact, you only need to send 1 passport photo of the applicant... which will not be used and will likely be returned to you anyway.

You are mixing up the passport photo requirements for a spousal visa with those for an in-country FLR(M) visa.

Spousal visa = 1 passport photo of the applicant, no passport photos of the sponsor

FLR(M) visa extension from inside the UK = 2 passport photos of the applicant with their name on the back, 1 passport photo of the sponsor with their name on the back

Hi, Sorry to butt in, I don't know how to ask a new question on my main thread... my question is if the site doesn't like debit cards what is the other option? I only have a debit card with the Credit Union i use... they have told me to let them know before I apply so they can raise the daily limit on purchases and that they know its an oversea's transaction...  would it be best to purchase a "Pre-Paid" credit card at Walmart?   ???

Just answered this on your other thread.

I suspect you will be fine using your debit card as long as you inform the bank of the large transaction before you attempt to pay for it and ask them not to block it.

For the record, this is the first I've heard of the site not liking debit cards as I think most people do use debit cards to pay without issue... and I suspect it was more the fact that your bank kept blocking the transaction as fraudulent than it was the website not liking the card.

Good evening,

I really didn't want to panic anyone about the card issue. I just wanted to let everyone know what worked for me.

I'm having another panic moment about my wage slips and bank statements.

I just hope someone can look at what I have and ok it for me so i can try and relax.

The wage slips I have provided are dated as follows:

I am paid weekly

The earliest slip is dated 17/04/2018 and the latest is dated 23/10/2018.

I went into the bank asked them for my bank statements from April 2018 to date.

The branch manager printed them all off for me and also printed me off a letter stating my account number, my sort code and stating;

"Dear Mr B, please find enclosed your bank statements from April 2018 to date. Any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me on blah blah blah" this letter is printed on official bank stationary and is also wet signed.

Do the dates on the bank statements make sense and are they correct?

Does her letter sound ok?

As the bank manager printed me a letter that means that she didn't need to stamp every page right?

As the last payslip was dated so close to the time that I went in, my latest full official statement had not been created yet. What they did was print me out an internal statement showing the deposit of the latest payslip. This one she did stamp and sign.

I have a feeling that I asked this in an earlier thread but I'm having trouble finding it.

Thank you and sorry I'm a pain haha.

Alex
