Because Americans can't handle the metric system?

I jest.

It used to make no difference. As we all know, things changed in September with applications now being sent to New York (when applying for entry clearance). It USED to not matter about paper size (as long as nothing was printed beyond the edge of the page). I have had a quick look and found this:

Although it baffles the mind for them to think Americans can get their hands on A4!!

I still think the VFS may be behind. Thankfully I have a few months before I can apply, but someone got an email back from the UKVI that states either size of paper is fine. Oh if they were only all consistent. :(

Just make sure the page settings are set to A4 as well as the paper size... otherwise it either might not print, or it may only print part of the page.

Sometimes at work (in the UK), our printer won't print anything at all and it's usually because one document was sent to the printer using US-paper size page settings instead of A4 page settings!

I have read multiple posts in this forum that it's supposed to be on regular US sized paper now and that the VFS website is not updated yet. Several people have posted emails they received from the home office clarifying it should be on US paper now. I can't remember which threads they were in, but it's definitely been mentioned a few times.

Ok, I found one of the threads from someone that contacted UKVI and this was the response...
Home Office email; "We are in a period of transition in terms of US casework and some published advice has yet to catch up with the changes, so I can see how this is causing confusion. To answer your questions:

· All applications should be sent to the following address for processing:

VFS Services USA Inc.
UKVI Scanning Hub
750 3rd Avenue,
Suite 946
New York, NY 10017

· Photocopies are fine.

· A4 or US letter size – either is fine.

I suspect that either A4 or letter paper is fine however the problem with that email is that we don't know where it came from. It was obtained by "someone" on facebook. I question the informal tone of the email too.  If it came from the paid for contact centre, it can not be considered reliable.

Actually I'm the one who posted that snipit from a FB group I"m in. The person who posted it had received the email back from UKVI. I trust that person as they are an actual Immigration Adviser/Commonwealth Immigration adviser and provides updates when released by the HO.  Just an FYI :)

there was one in another thread where someone copied vebatum what their biometrics letter stayed and it specified US letter size. I'm going to do a packet in each type of paper to be safe, but if someone doesn't want to waste $20 for the pack of paper like I did and all that ink then they may not want to.

Thank you..  So what I figured out here at work is I can scan the documents to me with the A4 size then go print it (fit to printable area) for the 8 1/2 x 11 and it prints it all out perfectly ...  ::)
