Why bank statements?
« on: November 07, 2018, 04:10:03 AM »
Hi guys.
I was just wondering.....why are bank statements necessary if payslips are given? Is it somthey can add up expenses to go against you pay? Im asking cause Im worried about the large sums of money I have to send home monthly for my student loans.

It’s to prove that your payslips are paid into an account in your name (or your and your spouse’s name jointly), and that the amount and date of deposit match those on each payslip.

That is the ONLY reason they need to see them and they will not be looking at anything except the deposit of the payslip each month. The other incomings and outgoings on your account are irrelevant and won’t be looked at. They will just check the payslip deposit and move on to the next bank statement.

This is the guidance on providing bank statements:

(c) Personal bank statements corresponding to the same period(s) as the payslips at paragraph 2(a), showing that the salary has been paid into an account in the name of the person or in the name of the person and their partner jointly.

Ok. Excellent, thank you. That also lessens our paperwork as I was prepared to submit our joint account statements, which is where our bills and such come out of after we both put money in from our personal accounts. Thanks!
