@ksand24 My visa says Partner (Standard). Is that typical or should it say Spouse?

Just got my packet back and they dated the vignette for Jan 14

Awesome - congratulations :).

Okay, so that ties in with what we normally see - that it starts about 7 days after it was approved :).

No, that’s correct - it used to say ‘Spouse/CP - Spouse/CP of [sponsor’s name]’ (CP for civil partner) but in the last few months, they changed it to say D Partner (Standard).

@ksand24 Can I start applying for jobs as soon as I get there or do I need to wait for my BRP?

@ksand24 Can I start applying for jobs as soon as I get there or do I need to wait for my BRP?

You'll need to wait until you have your BRP, as you'll need show the BRP to prove you have the right to work.

However, you have to pick up the BRP within 10 days of arriving anyway, so with all the moving and getting settled in the UK, I doubt you'll have time to apply for any jobs before you get your BRP.

If you're not flying until the 30th, you could even pick up your BRP on the same day you arrive in the UK (or the next day if you're too tired on that first day).

Personally, I would give yourself a few weeks to get settled in the UK and get used to things before you start applying for jobs.
