FLR (M) - Premium Appointment - New Form
« on: November 16, 2018, 05:44:34 AM »
Hi all - in a bit of a panic!

My wife has a premium centre appointment to apply for FLR (M) early next week - this was booked back in October, and we intended on submitting a paper application form. We paid the entire court cost of the visa and IHS at this time.

Since November 5 there's a new paper form - only for those applying for a fee waiver - and all other applications have to be online as part of the transition to the new system. It's impossible to complete add an online application form to our existing appointment (the only way to submit online would be applying and paying again, and trying to get a new premium appointment - virtually impossible given there's no more after the end of this month when everything should transition to the new system)

Does anyone know how the premium centres are handling this?

Should we go with the 07/2018 paper form (out of date)?
Or the 11/2018 paper form (states only for those applying with fee waiver)?

Has anyone been for an FLR (M) premium appointment in the last couple of weeks with a paper form and been successful? Or unsuccessful?

Hi ST2745!  :)

Good news! Someone in exactly the same situation as you attended their appointment on Tuesday and they were successful with the old form. :)

Here is their thread. Look at reply 113.  https://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=94883.msg1259725#msg1259725

That's a huge reassurance - thank you.
I've been awake all night trawling immigration forums trying to find an answer which was more than just speculation.

For safety we're going to do the same as OP in that thread and:
  • Present the 07/2018 form
  • Have the competed 11/2018 form as backup
  • Also fill in everything on online form up to the point of payment and print the draft out (as some questions subtly different, and asks for more information in some places

We'll post here after our appointment (this coming Tuesday) to let others know how we got on. There must be a few people in this boat!

Sounds good! Are you confident with your supporting documents?

Yeah, the paper form was only taken off the website at the beginning of this month, so anyone who booked a premium appointment before then, without applying online, will be in the same boat as you... and that could be hundreds of people.

Sounds like, from the other thread, the Premium Centre were expecting this, and that using the old paper form wasn’t an issue at all :).

I think so, but it's always good to check!

We have:
General:
  • Application Form
  • Appointment Confirmation
  • IHS payment Confirtmation
  • Applicant's passport, BRP
  • Sponsor's passport
  • Two photos of applicant (names on back) and one of sponsor (names on back)
  • Marriage certificate
Finance:
Applicant:
  • Letter from employer confirming position, start date, current and former salary (changed in September), and type of employment
  • Letter from employer confirming payslips are genuine
  • 12 months of payslips stamped by employer
  • P60 stamped by employer
  • 12 months of bank statements (mix of originals and in-branch print-outs stamped by branch)
Sponsor:
  • Letter from current (Aug 2018 - now) employer confirming position, start date, current and former salary (changed in October), and type of employment
  • Letter from former employer (Aug 2017 - Aug 2018) confirming position, start date, salary, type of employment
  • Original payslips from both employers for 12 month period (One of these is torn, though not through any of the text - I've included the original along with a stamped, signed copy from employer included company address stamp - is this enough?)
  • Original P60 and P45
  • Bank statements for 12 months (again a mix of originals and verified copies from the branch)
Correspondence:
  • August 2016: TV License letter to applicant + Direct Debit Confirmation from Electricity Company to Sponsor
  • December 2016: Joint bank statement
  • March 2017: Joint council tax bill
  • August 2017: NI number allocation to applicant + DBS check certificate to sponsor
  • December 2017: Joint bank statement
  • March 2018: Joint council tax bill
  • June 2018: HMRC self assessment statement (Date just says "June 2018" is this okay?) to applicant + Water bill to sponsor
  • September 2018: Credit card statement to applicant + Electricity bill to sponsor
Accommodation:
  • Original tenancy agreement (although now expired)
  • Letter from landlord confirming we still live there on a rolling basis
My only other concerns would be:
  • Applicant's original passport was lost by UKVI after initial visa was issued - we vignette transferred into a replacement, but don't have the original. The form only asks for passports since moving to the UK (which has just been the replacement), so to avoid over-complicating this we've not included police reports etc. of lost passport, but will take them in case asked? Anything else around this they could ask us for?
  • Applicant's BRP has the wrong expiry date (March 2019) - seems to have been issued as 33 months from vignette transfer, rather than original visa application. Visa definitely expires early December, so we're within 28 days from that regard. Too late to fix this now, but is this likely to be a problem?

Thank you all so much for your help - I may have only just created this account, but reading threads here for initial entry visa and to prepare for this has been very helpful!

Update for benefit of others in the same situation - visa was approved, the fact we are using the old 07/2018 form was never mentioned.

The whole PSC process was fairly traumatic though:
- Reception very rude, clearly on a bit of a power trip.
- "Booking in" - much more friendly, but being done by a trainee. Bit of an emotional rollercoaster, as he kept hitting problems with the system, and would have to get his trainer to correct them - constantly worried us there was a problem with our application!
- Biometrics went fine
- Then waiting - despite a very early appointment we waited 3 hours after biometrics completed before being called again (4h after our appointment time)
- They claimed not to be able to find a couple of bank statements - insisted they were there. Sent back to wait for another hour.
- 5 hours after our appointment time - visa approved

Appreciate the system is changing very soon, but some tips for others:
- There's no point beautifully arranging financial documents grouped by month with payslips, bank statements, photocopies for that month all together - they want each document type separately, and photocopies separated.
- Don't make plans for the rest of the day, no matter how early your appointment is.

Now just waiting for BRP. Quoted 7-10 working days, but consensus seems most arriving in 3-4?

Congratulations!   :)

Yeah, they don't want things done by month like that. Rather all bank statements, all pay slips etc and yes, a separate pile for the photocopies.
And although some people are out of their appointment sooner, 5 hours is not bad... ask KFdancer!    :)

I would have KILLED to have been in and out in 5 hours.  Three appointments later and I'm still scarred from the long wait times.  EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. there was a "computer issue".  <sigh>

Oh well, all over and I'm a citizen now.  And at least you snuck in before the changes.  I would not want to be a guinea pig with the new system.  I think it'll take a little while to iron the kinks out.  But maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.   ;D

Seeing posts 'elsewhere', there are definitely kinks but it is early days and most are receiving their ILR although not within the 24 hour timeframe they were promised for a fee. It seems the decision is made quickly but the confirmation is posted so does not get to the applicant for days! Some are getting their BRP before they get their letter! What is great is that applicants are posting their experiences so others can get an idea of how the system works.
