My husband has to correct himself when he goes into work now, since he's home 4 days a week and in the office one. All the American words are catching up with him

Well done!  ;D

A guy in the office today was telling me about the movie "June". He must have repeated it ten times before I twigged he was saying "Dune"

When I first moved over and we were going over to my husband's friend's house for dinner, and she kept talking about something she was making for dinner with prunes & I was confused because I thought it was supposed to be a curry or something. Turned out all the time I thought she was saying prunes, she was actually saying prawns. Oh well, she was a terrible cook regardless of whether it was prunes or prawns.  [smiley=bleck.gif]

We've got another great word round here, for when someone isn't feeling well... peely-wally! Not heard that in years... it's probably only my generation and older who still use it.

This is an incredible longshot, but has anyone here heard of a singer called Eek-a-mouse?  I swear he's got a song called Peely-wally and i never had any idea what it is

Here we go, through the magic of you tube:

This dude is hilarious.  He's like 7 feet tall and every song sounds like this.

I use all of them interchangeably, although I have to admit that saying "poorly" makes me feel like I'm speaking to a child or something for some reason.
My, how time flies....

Ha ha!! I would've thought "June" as well. That D-U together sound is a tricky one here.

Well, I remember when my husband first said it to me, he said it with such pity in his voice... The way you'd say it to a child. "Oh, my sweet, little darling... are you poorly?" Uhhh... what?? LOL!

It’s also used informally to refer to feeling ill, so it’s not just him :).

At least he didn't say, "You look grim". Lmfao.

Exploring the Scottish language is the highlite of my day.

He calls my period "doodles".

And my personal favourite is how he pronounces porpoise and tortoise. It's better than squirrel and Nicaragua.

Haha. I have to laugh because when my sweet husband first came to visit and after a whirlwind trip it Colorado and back we sat out on my patio and he all of a sudden said he wasn’t feeling well... I’m trying to think in a hurry what he meant .. seconds later he passes out and in my hurried ness to help, I end up tipping a 3 foot concrete gnome on him , later he asked why did his head hurt .. I said well because you didn’t feel well and passed out , I thought I’d help haha 🤣 ohh man.. I leaned really quick what not feeling well meant ... I said why didn’t you just say you felt sick
