In Oxford everybody has lights but they're very covert about it.  e.g. MAYBE the tree is near a window or there's a strand of lights in the back garden.  It's my first Christmas here - and it's been a lot of fun.

That is Christmas spirit! :D

We have one house behind us that went to that extent but it looks kind of silly when it is a terrace house.

I know it's not the UK, but my aunt and cousin used to live on the famous 'miracle on 34th street' in Baltimore:

It is pretty impressive!!!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

One of the houses not shown (only because I had camera shake and didn't notice until I got home) basically started it all on the street. It was a 14-year-old boy who had an interest in electronics, and he did their house with the help of his dad. That was six years ago, and at 20 he's still doing it. His house is twice what the photos above show. I think it's really special that not only have almost all his neighbors gotten into the spirit to support his, they are also all collecting for a charity.
