YEA! The Mars mission landed ok

So they did it again - rocket to mars, re-entry, parachute, detatch module, landing. Went without a hitch and it's already sent back photos! Yea!!!! ;D

Do you guys remember the Beagle mission from a few years back?  It was completely British in that they refused to spend any money and it just failed miserably, crashing at high speed .   I like a lot of things about our hosts, but they just won't invest in anything.

By the way, The Martian is a great movie and even better book.

I've got the book but haven't read it yet. Loved the movie. I think I read somewhere that they consulted experts to get as realistic as possible with the details.

If you loved the Martian, you should check out interstellar. The boy has watched that movie 100 times and now knows everything about travelling faster than the speed of light.

Except for the giant error of the big windy storm.  Apparently, the atmosphere of Mars is so thin you'd be lucky to get a breeze at all. 

Science and weather girls, does this sound right?  I'm wondering about giant sand storms.

I did see a series of photos that appeared to show a large dust devil, so I'd say no.  In doing a little research:
