Approved ILR under new system
« on: December 04, 2018, 01:25:34 PM »
Applied on Friday (30th November) in Birmingham under the new system. Although the guy at the centre said that I would receive a decision within 24 hours, I really expected it Monday, as it was the next business day. Today, Tuesday, I have received an email with a positive result. Next onto citizenship!

Congratulations, Mikeymike31!!! You can now go and live your life! That's a faster than usual turnaround it seems. Are you planning to apply for citizenship right away?

My appointment was the 28th of November at the same location, two days before yours, and I was also told clearly I'd receive a decision or hear something within 24 hours. I'm still waiting for an email or a knock on the door...or something!

Sivara, hang in there- I am sure you will get that knock soon!!!!!!!

But, yes, I am going to apply for citizenship as soon as the BRP arrives as from what I have seen, they get processed quickly around this time of year.

Congrats on ILR!

I just did citizenship... applied October 24th (online + NDRS/JCAP, which is now phased out), and biometrics completed my application on October 27th.  My approval letter was dated November 22, and I received it in the post on November 29th.  So, pretty fast for me. :)
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

I don't know if I am or not, but I do know I'm thrilled!  I should think about finding something nice to wear next week.  I might shop (gasp!).

Wow, that's super fast. I'm sad to hear that JCAP is no more! :( Does that mean it's now separate waiting times and costs £1,330 + £19.20 + £80 (citizenship ceremony fee) + £75.50 (passport)?

The group ceremony fee is included in the £1,330.  That's the only bit of good news I can offer you.  ;D

So, I see that a council near me is doing NCS until the 31 Dec. and still has appointments available. NDRS is phased out, so it sounds like JCAP is no longer an option. With the new service, you don't need to send your passport, just scan it all. So is there any benefit in using NCS or should using the new system be considered just as good?

Congratulations! Interesting that your response came via email. Most are getting letters,  which of course delays the whole thing!

Yeah, you're probably right.  *shudder*  Shopping is probably taking things too far.

I wore the less formal of my two funeral outfits. I felt very smart.  :)
