Snowflake or Genuine Cause for Concern
« on: December 07, 2018, 01:12:37 PM »
So the news this week out of the USA......

Banning "Baby it's Cold Outside" implying the lyrics promote rape?

Kevin Hart - a comedian - stepping down from the Oscars over a "cross the line" comment he made in a comedy show nearly 10 years ago.  Historically comedians host awards shows.  And many of them cross the line in the name of comedy all the time.  I recently saw Ricky Gervais and he DEFINITELY crossed the line a few times.   ;D

Are we turning into a bunch of snowflakes or are ghosts from the past a genuine cause for concern?

The whole "baby it's cold outside" thing really annoys me. If you take it in the spirit it was written in back in the 40's the only way a woman could exercise her rights to enjoy sex as a unmarried woman was to say those things. If she doesn't she was treated badly.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

My Christmas will be just fine without hearing a song about slipping a girl a roofie.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Totally agree - one has to wonder why people always jump to the worst conclusion or seedy interpretation - seem that would indicate a problem with the individual rather than the song or whatever is being brought to question

What about a song about Truffle Butter instead?

Please don't tell me what that means!  I like butter and I like truffles, I don't want either of them ruined for life.

You have teenage kids. I feel that you already know what it means otherwise you would assume it was about Truffle infused butter. It is not however.

I know better than to ever look at ANYTHING on the urban dictionary. Or I'd have a stroke, I'm sure.  ;D 8)
