One-Way tickets
« on: December 09, 2018, 06:22:31 PM »
So I'm starting to plan everything for my partner to move over to the UK from MO at the end of next year. I am putting together a page of all the things we will need to spend money on in the process so we know how much we need to spend/save over the next year.

As visas have no guarantee I thought I'd take a look at possible last minute on-way tickets from MO to the UK and got a big surprise! It looks like our normal £600 round trip turns into over £2000 for a one way ticket, even when bought well in advance which would be risky as it is with the visa!

Has anyone found an easy/cheaper way of getting over or have any advice? He will also be travelling with his dog if everything goes okay so we will be limited to the arrival airport and carrier.

Thanks in advance,
Kim

Book a return and just don’t use the return journey.   ;D

Yeah, it's often much cheaper to purchase a round-trip ticket and only use the outbound journey... or what you can also do is use the return flight for a visit back to the US.

Will that cause any issues with taking the dog too. We would have to call up the carrier to arrange, but if they see we have a return and the dog is only going one way, will is raise any issues?

I don't want to get that far for him to be refused boarding because they think we're "cheating" the system lol.

Loads of people do it.  Won’t be an issue in the slightest.
