Hello from Wyoming!
« on: December 11, 2018, 05:03:01 PM »
First time poster here....

My name is Jenna, and my English husband and I are currently struggling through the settlement visa process with the goal of moving back to his home in North Yorkshire.  It is getting rather discouraging, and I was hoping to meet some new people that have been through this process, received a happy outcome, and lived to tell the tale!

A bit more about us:  my husband is an electrician, avid fisherman, and overall fine Limey.  I am a cost analyst, and between us we have 2 girls and 2 boys (2 girls=1 corgi & 1 dachshund (in England with his mom), 2 boys=1 corgi and 1 fat black cat, here with us).  We love to cook and take walks with the babies, and fish whenever we can.  We married in June of 2017 here in the States, and began our journey to get back to the UK earlier this year.   We also just sold his old house and bought a new house over there (a fixer upper!), and cannot wait to get the chance to make the move and start this exciting new chapter in our lives....If only we can get that visa!!!!!!!!

Is there anyone out there with a similar story?  Or in/headed to North Yorkshire? I'd love to hear from you!

Best to all,
Jenna

Welcome Jenna! I’m a bit further north.....Scotland actually. I can tell you that I made it through the spouse visa process, with a whole lot of support and advice from this forum. Everyone here will do all we can to make you feel welcome and help you through the frustration and stress.

Hi Jenna,  Glasgow here. Can't help you with the visa stuff, but have to say that the people who will answer your questions in the visa section appear to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful!

I might be biased, but North Yorkshire is amazing (lived here for 7 years). I've always been in the bits round York, which is fantastic (but mostly over-run with tourists and overcrowded on a weekend...
2004-2008: Student Visa
2008-2010: Tier 1 PSW

We will!  I'm nervous about the flight for them, but excited to have all our babies together!  :)

We enjoy York!  Our house is about an hr away on the coast.  Such beautiful country :)
