Aww, what a bummer! I'm always craving good American breakfast. Guess I'll have to stick to making it at home.

I want Waffle House so bad... grilled chicken sandwich plate with hashbrowns, scattered covered.

Did you ever hear about the secret ordering code at WH?  There's also a method of representing an order by placing condiments and other items on the plate.  I can't remember all the details but it's worth a Google if you've never heard of it.

The video in that article is great!   Shows definitely what a cluster**** the restaurant is. Hopefully they can make improvements and get better.  Or they'll close.

Five Stars? Were they in the same Universe as us?  Seriously, we used to eat at Denny's every Friday in the States. Sometimes several times a week. Went to Dennys all over the Southwest USA.  The only time we ran into anything as bad as this was a Denny's in Arizona when we were on a road trip in 2004. Horrible food, horrible service, but we demanded and got a refund.

Which I have just done - I've written to corporate (UK) and detailed the visit, and asked for a refund.

That was truly, spectacularly bad. The service was bad, and the food was... inedible, really.

Bummer, as they have banana splits on the menu.  :(

Not surprisingly, they have not responded to my email.  I'm going to send a hardcopy. CC to USA Denny's corporate. That was hours of my life wasted. Plus three buses on two different bus lines to get there.

I wonder why corporate are not doing a better job. As suggested in one of the trust pilot reviews, why did they not have a team from the US on board until Glasgow was up to speed?

It's a shame, really. It could have done well.

I think I read somewhere that the general manager had walked out. But that wouldn't explain why they didn't bring a USA training crew over to train the UK crew, as they are trying to launch their brand here. That makes no sense. This is really bad publicity for them.  They have a crackerjack social media advertising team, but apparently no customer service personnel. No amount of twitter hype is going to overcome word-of-mouth.

Maybe they're franchisees, and not corporate owned.  There is a distinct difference in quality between the franchise Taco Bells and the corporate-owned ones where I was involved in the chain in central Arkansas.  I expect Denny's is the same.  Add in the thousands of miles and completely different culture, and you've got disaster.

Yeah. And their latest media blast (complaining about the bad reviews!) isn't helping them.

Whatever, I won't be back. There are loads of other places to eat, here, that are quite nice.

It’s almost like they are trying to suck!

I’d bet that ticket can safely be ignored.  Unless it actually comes from the council (Rick and his minions) , it can usually be ignored. I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

Well, on the good side, soon they will run out of things to do badly.

Wow they are terrible!!

I read about a car park part owned by my council in another area of the country, in one of those big retail malls with shops around the lot. Apparently they were fining people who went into a shop by their car and walked to another shop in the mall instead of moving their car to the other end of the lot. Needless to say they're cancelling the fines and refunding the people who didn't complain. How can customer service be so nonsensical?

Honestly, it doesn't sound like they even care.

I think people are far more likely to be forgiving and be up for giving them a second chance if they just admitted their mistakes and apologised. Instead they are making excuses and being defensive.

Yeah, I'd seen that.

It's going to fail.  Too bad, because a good Denny's is a great place to eat.

The motel where we're going to be in SoCal on our trip has a Denny's next door.  ;D
