Collecting BRP
« on: January 14, 2019, 09:32:31 AM »
Hello everyone! Happy new year!

My wife flew in yesterday morning and I picked her up at 6:30AM from Gatwick. Yawn!

When she got to passport control she produced her passport with her vignette sticker in, the passport officer said that she should've had the piece of paper that said about collecting her BRP with her. He said he could "work around it" and all was well. She'd left it in the US not thinking about it...

Will she need this sheet to collect her BRP? I hope not as posting it will cut things fine.

Any input would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you!

Alex

Yes, I believe she needs the letter.  You can always try going to the Post Office and seeing if they will release it without the letter.

If she does need to have it posted - use FedEx, UPS, or DHL.  Do NOT use the US Post Office!  Yes, it'll cost a fair bit to send, but she'll actually get it in a timely fashion.

Glad she arrived okay :).

Unfortunately, I believe she does need that sheet to pick up her BRP. She will need to show both her passport and the letter to the Post Office in order to get the BRP.

Is there someone in the US who can scan and/or mail it to her?

Yes, I was going to suggest scanning it. I think that might be enough for the post office.
