Today I found out that the British say Pernikity instead of Persnikity!

Ew, really?  It sounds weird without the S.  At least, it does when I say it without the S.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

I'm trying to figure out if this word was ever in my vocabulary to know a difference.  I'm not sure now.  Confused.com.  ???

 Jim's right, they say it without the s in the UK and with the s in the US. I've noticed that.  :)

I don't think I ever heard the word before I came here, so for me it's always been pernickety.

I put persnickety into the advanced search function, just to see how much it's been used here (a fair amount) and it turns out that it was, albeit back in 2012!    :)
