A tale of naughty neighbours
« on: January 29, 2019, 02:03:26 PM »

Not long ago we had a bit of drama with the neighbours, they wanted to build a new extension with giant brick walls that would block all our light.  We had several meetings with them to try agree a way forward that wouldn't screw us, but they basically didn't care and knew they could get away with it.  They refused to alter their plans.  They were slimey, manipulative and dishonest at every step of the way.

There also was a lot of history between the neighbours and the Housing Association, leading to half the members of the association disliking the neighbours intensely.   Fortunately, the neighbours had to get permission from the HA before building their extension and the HA came up with tons of reasons why they couldn't.  Everything came to a head at an acrimonious meeting of the HA, where neighbours made a presentation and then we got up and talked about how it would screw us.  The vote was absolutely tied, and in the resulting pandemonium, he became convinced that he won.  A few days later, a sharp eyed hater on the HA board found the neighbour needed a majority, and thus had lost!

We just found out a few minutes ago the house is for sale, apparently the neighbour has figured out everyone hates him and it won't be fun to live here.

The tricky bit is that we would like to buy the house because it's bigger and nicer, but I'm sure the neighbours are still angry at us.  Maybe we'll have to hire a solicitor and go in as anonymous buyers.

Karma has ruled!

Funny how everyone thinks we can buy both houses.  Are you joking?  We'll be lucky to afford that one.

Does this mean no Jimbo Jumbo house? :(

Not unless we win the lottery.

I keep waiting for our win so we can do all the things, too.  We don't even need the big jackpot (though I'll take it if offered!).  I think a quarter- to half-million pounds would be sufficient for our needs/wants.

I just messaged them and told them to throw some knot weed over in your garden as a parting gift.
