TOR questions -first timer
« on: February 06, 2019, 02:41:54 AM »
Hey guys!

I am waiting to hear about a spousal Visa hopefully will hear in the next week or so!

My husband lives in our home in the UK and I will be bringing my clothing etc over and a few pieces of art.

Later in our lives we wish to purchase another home for us to gain a little more space, but this won't happen for a few years.

Do I have a time limit that I can fill out ToR or could I do this in a couple years when we decide where we might want to be?

How does this work with things I bring in with my luggage this first time with my spousal visa?

Thanks!

You have 12 months to do it.

Thanks for asking this question! You now have me thinking I'm missing a step in my moving process.

I had heard of a TOR, but thought it was only if you were shipping items through a shipping company. I'll be checking three suitcases of clothes, books, and other small items with me when I move/fly to the UK. Will I need a TOR as well? What's the process?

I would get it just in case, because if you need to declare anything you could be taxed. It's good for 12 months :)

Hi all-

So we are TOR first timers also.. just went over it to see what we are dealing with and the only question the threw me was on the very last page. "Number of Enclosures"... What does that mean?? Do they want to know how many boxes we are shipping over?

Any help would be great.

I believe they mean the number of documents you are enclosing (or attaching) with your TOR. At the bottom of page 1 of the TOR there is a heading "Enclosures" where they list what documents should be enclosed with your TOR application.  So I assume that's what they mean when they ask you for Number of Enclosures.
