The Masked Singer
« on: February 17, 2019, 09:51:08 PM »
Ok, my bet is that the White Rabbit is Joey Fatone from NSync, the Peacock sounds very much like Donny Osmond, the Bee absolutely is Tina Turner, no guess on the Monster, and the Lion is a white country music singer whose name I cannot remember, but whose face I can see clearly. There was no question at all as to who the Pineapple guy was. ;D  I was sure that the Alien was Paula Abdul, but it turned out to be LaToya Jackson.

The suspense is killing me. ;)

(You can catch their performances on YouTube if you can't stream Fox.)

The Lion is Rumer Willis. Peacock is for sure Donny Osmond.

I've never watched this show, but the recaps written by Miles Surrey on The Ringer are hilarious:

I was on the fence for a while as to Peacock being Neil Patrick Harris or Donny Osmond, but I don't think Harris can sing as low as the Peacock can.  But the Peacock moves much more vigorously than I would think Osmond would. SO maybe it IS Harris?  I had thought Osmond from the voice, but that doesn't jibe with the rainbow flag, which suggests Harris.... ::)  So now I'm pretty sure it's Neil Patrick Harris.

And I'm not convinced that the Monster isn't Lenny Kravitz.

Yeah, that write-up is a hoot!

Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat... plus the wig reference. And it sounds like Donny. Additionally, one of his clues was it's been a long time since his photos have been up on the fans walls.

Plus, the Peacock moves like a younger man. Osmond is in his 60s, I think. So now I'm leaning towards it being Neal Patrick Harris. But the voice sings lower and sounds like a more mature man's voice. Oy! Naw, that voice is too deep to be Neal Patrick Harris. It's gotta be Donny Osmond.

This is driving me buggy!  I find the panel of "judges" to be inane and pretty much caricatures, but the singers are really good. They are supposed to unmask two this week. I hope it's not Peacock and/or the Rabbit as I'm really enjoying their performances.

Margo - it airs Wednesday night at, I think, 9pm Eastern/Pacific on Fox. Alternately they all show up on youtube pretty quickly.

And does this not sound like Lenny Kravitz? Although it could be T-Pain... I'm not terribly familiar with T-Pain.

And this is either Shania Twain or that chick who won American Idol a while back whose name I cannot for the life of me remember. Kelly Clarkson?

This has to be an ex-boy-band guy. Joey Fatone....

Are you even watching all of the clues? Because it can't be Tina Turner. One of the clues was, This is a song by my good friend Tina, and then she sang a Tina Turner song.

The Lion can only be Rumer Willis. The clues only match her.

The Monster is most likely T-Pain.

Nope, not watching the clues at all. Just going on the voices of the singers.

The one I think is Tina Turner said they started singing in the 1950s. So that will narrow it down. I still think it's Tina Turner....

I just listened to a few bars of that one and I don't think it sounds like Tina Turner at all!   ;D  8)

Well, eventually we'll find out.  ;D

I had thought maybe Patti LaBelle but she didn't start her career until the 1960s, and after Bee sang one night she said her career started in the 1950s. There was also a line in one of the lyrics the Bee sang that had the word "thunder" in it and that sounded identical to me to Tina Turner singing that word in the song about "thunder dome" for that horrible Mad Max movie. And she's got Mad Max kinda spikes around her eyes....  Roberta Flack is the correct age, but I don't think it's her. Could possibly be, but I still think it sounds more like Tina. It's definitely an older voice, not a young woman. The only other black female singer of that vintage I can think of is Shirley Bassey. And the Bee does not sound like Shirley Bassey at all.
