I've just gone through the site and got the same error message. I went in a corrected it (I thought) but now it's saying my AGI is zero...it should be $3,084 (which is what my wages were).
Other than foreign income, is there somewhere else I need to put my wages? I dont have any W2s as I only worked in the UK last year.
I help my son do his taxes each year and we use TurboTax. It asks about foreign income and when the 1040 is completed it always puts his UK salary earnings on line 1, along with W2 income. (His first year back here he had both US and UK salary income. We just follow the step by step questions and let TurboTax do its thing.
I don’t know how other tax software works but it has always been easy with TT and it is clear that the foreign salary earnings need to end up on line 1 so the FEIE can be applied.
Schedule 1, Other Income, line 8 has his earnings listed as negative with the comment “Form 2555.”
Form 2555 itself has his foreign wages listed in Section IV line 19.
