FLM--quick run-down?
« on: March 05, 2019, 01:27:22 AM »
Hi guys.  I have PTSD from the stress of getting my spouse visa and just CANNOT look at the gov. website right now.  (Not being funny. )  Would some kind soul give me a quick run-down of what I need to be doing over the next two years with regard to FLM evidence?

We have been saving post since I got here back in November.  We have council tax, gas, and water jointly addressed to both of us.  It's six pieces of post from three sources, correct?  Anything else we can do now to make things easier down the road?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!  You guys rock. I honestly wouldn't be here in the UK without you! :D

Other than collecting post, there isn’t really anything else you can do until closer to the time.

The only other thing to think about is making sure you can meet the financial requirement again for the next visa (I.e. if using income, making sure that you will be earning enough, for long enough; if using savings, making sure you don’t spend it etc.).

On this subject does anyone know when in April the changes in price happen? My last visa before the ILR is due Nov 2020 but I am terrified of any price hikes. Will it be $1000 for the NHS fee the next time I apply? Completely empathise Snowfish!

Usually the changes come into effect on April 6th - the first day of the new tax year... but that’s not always the case - one year the rises came into effect in mid-March!

Usually there’s about a month’s notice of the new fees, but one time we only got 1 day’s notice (2 years ago, I think... due to Article 50 being triggered).

We never know how much they will increase by until they are announced - last year it wasn’t too bad... only a few pounds increase for FLR(M), but both FLR and ILR are approved to rise to a max of £3,250 each by 2020.

The IHS surcharge is separate and is not subject to the annual increases... it has only just increased for the first time since 2015 on Jan 8th, so I imagine it won’t change again for a while. It’s currently £400 per year, so £1,000 for FLR(M).

Well, they may not go that high... that’s just the max they are allowed to charge.

At the moment, initial settlement visas for Adult Dependant Relatives are £3,250, but all other initial settlement visas are £1,523, while FLR is £1,033 and ILR is £2,389.

So, it may just be that the cheaper visas increase a little and don’t get near £3,250, but I would budget for more rather than less.

I will be paying the 1000 for my upcoming FLR(M) round two. However do I need to pay another NHS fee on my final ILR? Or is it a straight 3k plus for it all. Uggh.

There is no IHS surcharge for ILR, because ILR is permanent residence and gives you access to public funds/UK benefits.

So, you just pay the visa fee (currently £2,389) and then any extra services you might decide on, like Super Priority.
