You don't smell the difference when you open the bottle? Really? It hits me like a ton of bricks, and it does impact the finished product. (All of which is pretty odd, because I'm not known for having a particularly acute sense of smell!)

It also annoys me that they're asking me to pay "pure vanilla extract" prices for something adulterated! ;)

Genuinely have never tasted the difference but I can't thought about the difference in smell if I'm honest (I haven't used US vanilla extract in a while and never tasted the difference so didn't think to look for the difference there). And, oddly, I do have a pretty acute sense of smell! But I know a lot of people have noticed the difference so I am definitely the oddity haha

OH YES!! I keep forgetting to suggest flavoured coffee to people. Everytime I go back to visit the US, I always bring flavoured coffee back with me and it's one of my requests to my mom to bring when she comes to visit me. Last trip I brought back Maple Pecan coffee and it smells phenomenal.

I'm starting to question my palate as I never notice the difference between the vanilla extracts! (or any of the other extracts LOL)
TK Maxx people! TK Maxx will take care of all your flavoured coffee needs. They have ground and whole bean plus a wide range of sugar free coffee syrups.

I had this delimma myself! I have been able to find most things after having been here a year. Yet I love Penzeys blends of spice and I just ha 've a friend send them. What I find most challenging is re creating the diverse range of salsa in the US. If you like off beat varieties then bring things for that. I agree marinades are hard to find. Seems easier during summer
Hi all! I've seen a few posts suggesting certain spices may be hard to come by in the UK - specifically Mexican spices. Does anyone have any tips for what spices I should bring that may not be available (or be very expensive) in the UK? Specifically Northern Ireland?

I love to cook so I've got quite a hefty spice cabinet that might take up my entire carry on if I try to bring them all  ;D

They don't have the same variety though! I've seen they have sommmee flavours but they aren't the most exciting. I've tried to give up coffee syrups as well because of the sugar but I've found TK MAXX has a lot of the Monin ones and I find them to be a bit crap :( In order to taste them, you need to add a LOT of syrup. it can do the trick if you're needing to scratch the itch, but it's nothing like the "snickerdoodle" or girl scout cookie flavours that some of the local coffee shops have back in the US

Have you tried local butchers? I found mine had an interesting selection of marinades

Not at the two I went to! Just two flavors of ground, neither of which were appealing....  The syrups are...yucky, really. I worry about what's in them.

I have at least 10 different flavours in my cabinet right now. Maple bourbon, glazed donut, white chocolate mocha, peppermint, cinnamon, caramel, hazelnut, Irish cream, cinnamon vanilla, pineapple, apricot, coconut, mint chocolate chip... Skinny Girl brand, made in Clearwater, Florida.

I've found these at all TK Maxx's I've visited around Scotland.

Same with the ground coffee.

Not seen them in the TK MAXX down here! Maple bourbon sounds AMAZING.

I've seen a the donut flavoured one before (not glazed donut I don;t think) for syrup but don't think it was the same brand you mentioned

Do you happen to remember where you saw the flavored coffee beans here in Scotland? (Which stores?) There is nothing on their website, unfortunately.

The TKMaxx in Glasgow city centre, Stirling, Edinburgh off Princes Street, Inverness, there was one on the way to Lockerbie.

Pretty much every TKMaxx I've stopped in has had flavoured ground coffee and whole bean coffee.

Hi. I hit the TKM in city center a while ago, and they had nothing. (Perhaps picked over for the holidays and not restocked.) Also another one in a shopping center whose name I cannot remember.

Oh, well. We have enough coffee to open our own shop, right now. But when I'm in CC next I'll have to stop in and check to see what they have at that time. And we'll be in Edinburgh later this week, on Princes Street, so I'll check there as well.

Thanks for the tip!

Yep. Been to our butchers (both of them). They are actually quite small shops, and have not got a lot of stock in them, sadly.
