Hi, all-
I am trying to get my US tax forms done today and am a bit confused about the healthcare exemption on 2018 version forms. I have lived in the UK for more than the full tax year so have been covered by NHS but don't know, in my situation:
-is it enough to just tick the box on the 1040 that says 'Full-year health care coverage or exempt' - OR-
-do I need to fill in form 8965 - OR -
-does indicating I'm UK-based for the full tax year (on 2555EZ) just mean I don't need to report my health care coverage?
Thanks so much,
Kristen
PS. I haven't been on the forum for a while and, while searching on this topic, noticed all the organizing happening re: tax fairness for US citizens abroad. Every year around this time as I sit down to do my taxes, I get FIRED UP about it, and I'm so glad to hear there is some proper action going on! Looking forward to getting involved and taking up the cause.
