We finally made corn dogs!
« on: June 10, 2019, 11:45:51 PM »
Well, "corn puppies" is what we're calling them, because even though I bought long sticks, we cut up the hot dogs into thirds and put them on toothpicks for baby ones.

We also had sliders because Aldi had a dozen sliders patties in the meat section and a packet of a dozen brioche slider buns in the bread aisle and I couldn't resist.

Noms!

They were!  I kept grinning happily because they came out nearly perfectly (two of them came out of the batter dyring frying), and the flavour was exactly right.  My husband approves of them!  At first he was surprised by the relative sweetness of the coating, but once he had a sizable bite with corn batter and hot dog together, he saw the light.  He was happy with the idea of next time.  Yay!

What were the condiments like? I tend to go for huge amounts of ketchup and mustard

I went for moderate amounts of French's mustard and Heinz ketchup.  My husband used some of his birthday present chilli sauces.

I approve of French's mustard. Not sure about chilli sauce.

The sauces are good, but you shouldn't mess with corn dogs.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

What makes a burger a 'slider'?

Sliders are mini burgers.

Previously, they were just called sliders in the Navy, military and probably prisons because they were greasy.
