Hi everyone!

This forum was super helpful for my hubbys Spouse Visa application 18 months ago. Now I have a question about my baby son.

As I was born abroad although 100% British, and my son was born in Costa Rica last April, we had to apply for the British Citizen Section 3(2) for my son because we are both born abroad. It was submitted on May 21st of this year. They say it can take up to 6 months, does anyone know the up to date schedule? I'm only wondering as my son is on his tourist visa from Costa Rica (we are in the UK right now) and he entered on March 10th of this year, and has 6 months Visa in his passport (until October 2019). I'm not sure if he'll need to leave by then if we haven't heard yet? He is 15 months old.

Does anyone know an up to date time line on this type of application?

Thanks
Emilie

Thanks!
Emilie

If nobody on here knows the timeline, you might find your answer on a large forum that covers everything, such as this one on the link-

Have you taken out health insurance for your son? As you asked for him to enter the UK as a visitor; instead of waiting for his Registration as a British citizen to be granted and then travelling to the UK on his British citizen passport;  you will be billed for any NHS service for him that is not free for all. 50% is added to the bill if there is no insurance to pay. The NHS can now ask for payment up front.

I assume you know that if he had been born in the UK (to you, a parent who is British by descent) then he would have been born a British citizen and entitled to bill free NHS under the present rules as he resides in the UK?

NHS services that are bill free in Great Britain, under the present rules-

NHS England

NHS Scotland
https://www2.gov.scot/Topics/Health/Services/Overseas-visitors

NHS Wales
http://www.wales.nhs.uk/nhswalesaboutus/budgetcharges/overseasvisitors

All the rest, the expensive stuff, is billed.
