Were you given the title deeds when the house was paid off? If so, I'd include them. Failing that I would send the last mortgage statement if you still have it.

So are you saying that we need to send either the title deed OR the last mortgage statement?  I was under the impression both things needed to be sent.  They will get a copy of the title deed from online, but since the mortgage has long since been paid off, they don't have the last statement readily available.  Sorry if I've misunderstood your response.

I could be wrong about this but my understanding is that the land registry does not prove that the mortgage is paid in full whereas the title deed does (please feel free to correct me). So the usual combination would be the land registry and the most recent mortgage statement which would show that you are current with your mortgage payments or in your case that your mortgage is paid up.
But in your case with there being no mortgage, the title deeds would cover it, if you have them.

So I'm suggesting that you could send either the title deeds or the land registry and the last mortgage statement.

I did misunderstand.  I thought the land registry and the title deed were one and the same.  My fault. What you are saying makes sense now.  Thank you as always!

Ok, I've done a little more research on this register vs deed, and apparently the title register is what will show that the mortgage has been paid off, and who owns the property.  The verbiage in previous posts is what confused me.  So I just wanted to post for anyone else who needs clarification:

From: https://www.gov.uk/get-information-about-property-and-land/search-the-register

"Title register
The title register has details about the property or land (in a PDF). It includes:

-the title number
-who owns it
-what they paid for it (properties only, if available)
-any rights of way
-whether a mortgage on it has been ‘discharged’, for example paid off"

So based on this,  I'm going to say we can just submit this title register alone, no mortgage statement, with the application and we should be good!  If anyone knows something different, please let me know!

His documents:
-Certified copy of husband's UK passport photo page

Hello all!  Quick question regarding the above: What kind of certification is required for this copy of my husband's passport photo page?   Is this something he needs to print out and then have certified, or is it something he needs to order from someplace already certified?

Thank you!

He makes a copy of the photo page of his passport and then can take it to the post office along with the passport. Someone there can verify it’s authentic and sign the copy. Our post office here didn’t charge my husband but some places may.
UK Spouse Visa (Priority)
Approved: 1 May 2018

FLR(M) Standard
Approved: 16 June 2021

ILR (SET M) Super Priority

Filling in my application now! Under "Convictions and penalties", I'm assuming the following is asking if I've ever gotten a ticket for a traffic violation...can someone confirm that?  The wording is just getting me a bit.

A penalty for a driving offence, for example disqualification for speeding or no motor insurance

Thanks!

Edit:  Ok, I guess it is asking if I've ever had a traffic ticket, which I have.  But I can't even begin to remember when or how much I paid as the last one has been a couple of years ago.  Not sure how to proceed. :/

Historically, the fiance/spouse application excluded "fixed penalty notices", which include parking and basic speeding fines.  If that exemption is not in the application, in the interest of full disclosure, I would contact the state agency that issued your driving license and request a record of your driving violations.  If your state drops old offenses from their records, explain that and tell UKVI whatever details you do remember.

Hi y'all!

Well, I've finally gotten around to submitting the online portion of the application and paying the fees.  Tomorrow is my appointment at the application center and I've a lot more nervous that I though I'd be.

I have a dumb question though:

Am I to understand there is a way for me to scan and upload my own applications documents?  I cannot figure out how to do this. Will I be able to do it after my biometrics appointment tomorrow?

I requested "Document Scanning Assistance" when setting up my appointment.  Unfortunately, I didn't read the entire description of the service, thinking I could go back and read it after making the appointment.  However, that is the only page I can't get back to on the VFS website to finish reading it, so now I have no idea what exactly it is I'm supposed to bring with me tomorrow, or what exactly they will do.  My initial understanding was that they were just going to help sort the paperwork for scanning, but are they actually going to scan it as well?

Is scanning even necessary, or would it be better to just send all the documents in to the New York office with a return address label?

Somehow I've just gotten all kinds of confused on this scanning situation.

Also, regarding the Appendix 2, VAF 4A document...I haven't actually seen anything while filling in the application that requests this be filled out.  Is it still required?

I'm normally pretty good about researching but I'm pretty nervous and freaking out a little bit, so I'm just feeling pretty scatterbrained.

Any help y'all can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much (and sorry if this post has been confusing!).

I believe to do this, you need to upload your documents on the VFS website before you purchase priority processing and shipping labels.

However, if you have purchased priority processing through the new online application site, I don’t think it’s now possible to upload them yourself.... which means you’ll need to mail everything to New York for them to scan there.

I’m not sure what an appointment with ‘Document Scanning Assistance’ is for a spousal visa, because that’s not normally an option.

For settlement visas, your only options should be:
- pay $1900 extra for the Settlement Premium Service where you give biometrics and submit your documents in person at one of the 10 Premium Centres in a major US city.
- attend biometrics at a USCIS Application Support Centre, and scan your documents at home, then mail your application form, biometrics form and passport to New York
- attend biometrics at a USCIS ASC and mail all your documents to New York where they will scan them for you

Unless you paid $1900 for the premium service, your biometrics will be done at a USCIS ASC by US immigration on behalf of UKVI. They have nothing to do with your application, and are just there to take your fingerprints and photo and nothing more.

You only take your passport and printed biometrics appointment confirmation sheet to the appointment. It only takes 5-10 minutes. They will check your ID, stamp your confirmation sheet and take your fingerprints and photo. Then you go home, place your passport and stamped appointment sheet with the rest of your documents and mail them to New York within 5 days.

Since you’re having issues with figuring out how to upload, I would probably just do this.

If you applied using the new online application form, I believe there is no separate Appendix 2 form.

If you applying using the old Visa4UK website, you will need to print and fill out Appendix 2 by hand from the UKVI website.

Thank you ksand24.  I am tired of messing with this, so yes, everything will be mailed to NY.  Also, I did apply using the new application form, so I should be good to go there as well.  Thank you so much for getting back.  I feel reassured.

Turns out my appointment will not be tomorrow, since I went to double check my paperwork one last time and found that one single pay stub is missing.  It was there before, and since I don't believe in ghosts, much less visa-application-thwarting ghosts, it means it's fallen out of the folder at some point.  Please everyone pray for me, send good vibes, or whatever, that I find this dang pay slip in my house somewhere.  Appointment is rescheduled for Nov 4.

Just thought I'd thank everyone for their help and let y'all know that the application has been submitted, biometrics appointment attended,  and all supporting documents sent to NY.  Now we wait...
