Just thought I'd thank everyone for their help and let y'all know that the application has been submitted, biometrics appointment attended,  and all supporting documents sent to NY.  Now we wait...

Thank you a million times.

Did you purchase Priority service ?
What did you wind up doing with your supporting documents ?  Did you mail them in and pay for the scanning or do it yourself?

I did not purchase priority service.  The information I received said it could take up to 12 weeks to get an answer.

I wound up sending all my supporting documents to NY for scanning.  I did not scan anything myself.  I paid $140 for round trip courier via the VFS website, and they sent me two UPS labels, one for sending my docs and one so they can be sent back to me after processing.

I thought so too!  I wasn't expecting to get an answer until January at the earliest.

Visa was approved! I received the approval  letter on the 21st! Can't thank everyone here enough. Doing this on my own would have been a lot more difficult without the input of people on this forum. Glad we didn't go with the immigration lawyer we had originally been talking to in the beginning. Whoo!

2022 update Re: Getting ready to apply for Spouse Visa - CHECKLIST
« Reply #41 on: September 01, 2022, 05:22:35 PM »
Hello all!  I'm preparing my documents for my visa renewal (woohoo) and have a question about ID documents.

On the checklist of things to send, if says I will need to submit the following:
- My passport
- Copy of spouses ID document (in this case his passport)
- Copy of ID document of owner of property I live in, since we are living with his mother and do not own/rent our own place (in this case also a passport)

At the end of the online application process, it has the note "Any passports provided must be originals."  Does this actually mean I need to send in the physical passports of all three of us?  Or can I just send mine in, with copies of my husband's and mother-in-law's passports?  I'm questioning it because the list says "copies of ID documents" for them, but then there is that note at the end about all passports needing to be original.

Any help would be appreciated!

You don’t send anything anymore.

All documents, including passports and your BRP card, are scanned and uploaded to the UKVCAS website before attending biometrics (or you can pay for them to scan and upload your documents for you at the biometrics appointment).

You then keep your passport and BRP while the visa is processing, though you cannot leave the UK until you have the new visa.
