Aquarium related? You were supposed to check those brackets.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Awww, so sorry to hear.  :(  I have a little squeak myself; they're small but certainly family members!

Thanks for the sympathy messages. It was old age. She had been slowing down lately, and was a little shaky when sitting up. On Friday night she didn't want to go in the Kon Tiki (her ball), which was very odd. I was sick in bed most of yesterday, and today when I got up I went out to check on her. She didn't come when I rattled the food dish (which is very unusual for her), so I took all the boxes and stuff out of her cage and found her under one. It looked as if she had just laid down and gone to sleep on the nice, soft bedding.  That's not a bad way for a hammie to go, really. We already miss her. :(

Thor has been taken to a quiet spot and buried, with a half-dozen flower bulbs and some seeds sown over. Hopefully the foxes or local dogs won't dig her up, and in the spring she will be under the flowers. We really thought we were going to have longer with her - she seemed really healthy until just this last couple of weeks, when she just sort of slowed down a lot. Still eating, still coming when called, still voyaging out down the hall in the Kon Tiki...  It does look like she passed peacefully, though. No signs of flailing around in the bedding, just laying on her side on the way from her little bedroom door over to her nest.

We do have the fish, but the house seems emptier. :(
