CEREAL !!!!
« on: June 08, 2003, 12:55:34 PM »
I'M DYING FOR SOME "LUCKY CHARMS" CEREAL   ;D

It's funny how one gets cravings for their own food. I think about it all the time, (although I really shouldn't as I need to drop a few pounds)  ;)
My husband even said when he was in America how much he missed proper chips and Sunday Roasts  [smiley=puke.gif]
Definetely foods I can go without, although we did go to Santa Monica and found a place in the mall their that served up some proper chips for my husband. He was pleased (for a moment)  [smiley=laugh4.gif]
I can't wait to see my family. Needless to say I will be packing an EMPTY carry on bag to return with me FULL  ;)
with some of the following items:

STOVETOP STUFFING
LUCKY CHARMS (of course/just the mini boxes)
REAL WHITE CORN TORTILLAS
DRY ENCHILADA SAUCE PACKETS (its better than nothing)
Q-TIPS (the proper kind that are NOT plastic)
KOOL-AID  ;D
TOOTSIE ROLLS AND TOOTSIE ROLL POPS

* I'm keeping a running list  ;) Let me know if I forgot something  :)

~so much cheaper than the american food website~
(as long I don't go overweight) [smiley=laugh4.gif]

oh dear....now you're making me drool for the things *I'm* missing! hehe I get cravings for....

Planters Cheese Curls
Macaroni & Cheese from a box
Non-dairy flavoured creamer...or even just non-flavoured stuff
peanut butter (my sweets can't even stomach the smell)
New York Bagels
Ice cream Cake
Nature Valley Oats & Honey Granola Bars (Just finished our last one yesterday! ACK)
Cinnamon Tic-Tacs
My Nana's Eggplant & Lasagna
My Aunt Mary's Homemade mac & cheese
My Mom's cooking- full stop!

I also miss baking- something I used to do a lot of when I was living on my own- used to keep everyone full up on cookies, cakes & breads!  I'm now limited to whenever the sweets gets a craving ....we're trying to be good about what we eat so we'll live longer  :-/ That *should* be a smiley...but I'm a food girl hehe

Woe is me!
Jen
(who is going to grab an apple instead...*sigh* :P

Oh YUMMMMY!!!
Ice cream cake, I forgot about that,, mmmmmm.. Baskin Robbins ,yummmmy,, much better ice cream than I find at Tescos.. OH MY GOSH!!! - I know what I miss - I was thinking about it the other day "Ice Cream Sandwiches" The Neapolitan kind.. ARGHHHHH.. I can't wait to visit the fam  :D
Yes and flavored creamer ,, mmmmm you get them free at
7-11, loads of them, but here they would cost 20p each a packet  [smiley=laugh4.gif] Thanks for mentioning that, I will have to snag a few (for free of course) when I'm back in cali.

You know they do sell Macaroni & Cheese in the box at ASDA here in Warrington and its manufactured by Kraft Corporation, check out ASDA in the pasta section you just may come across some boxes.. Of course, they arent all blue and flashy like our American boxes and it didn't taste the same to me,  but give it a try It's a decent alternative anyway.

- What is it with the Brits hating Peanut Butter ? [smiley=laugh3.gif]
Mine don't like it either.. ( but he loved Krispy Kreams,,hehehe)

He said to me the other day, I sure would love a fajita from your taco shops in America  :o
Couldn't believe it!!! - So I said, "That's cause we have variety haha, not just McD's & Burger King.. and the takeaways here I just can't even get into it..  :-X ~sigh~ LOL

Let me know if you think of anything else, Sorry to make you crave - I'll send you a tootsie pop for payment when I return, hehehe...
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You CAN get bagels at Tesco in the bread aisle, but they taste more like regular bread!  :( I ate a pack in three days when I was having severe bagel cravings, complete with Philadelphia cream cheese.
I also went through a phase where I craved REAL chocolate chip cookies. They just don't taste the same.
Peanut butter isn't the same, either, but SunPat will do in times of need. For some reason English people seem to have a real aversion to it... my fiance even refers to it as "cat sick"!   :-X
I'm not sure if they have salsa and tortilla chips, but I know I have had some bad cravings for them as well.
For my Lucky Charms fix, I resorted to Honey B's... they're kind of the same idea, with little marshmallows.
There's not really a good selection of yoghurt, either -- it's either Muller Lite or some other stuff that's either too liquidy, too tart, or too sweet.  :P

You probably need to be looking at greek yoghurt... i think it's thicker than the normal stuff.  :)

i still like peanut butter, regardless of what yank girl said!

though i prefer skippy to sunpat. sunpat does look like cat sick. hmm.  i buy skippy from costco, along with the occasional box of reese's peanut butter cups. last year i found real almond roca at costco but apparently it didn't sell well so they aren't sure if it'll be back this year. :(

nature valley oats? mmmm.  still i rather like the jordan's country crisp (berries) over here. yum! apple jacks? oh dear. i LOVE apple jacks. darn it, now i'll have to ask my sister to get some for me my next trip back!
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.

I am *dying* for some kosher (real beef!) hot dogs, sauerkraut and dill mustard. Where can I find these???

Sticky_Frog, I saw some tootsie rolls at one of the shops at Victoria Station.  I was so happy to see that as I'm hooked on them.

I have no trouble finding peanut butter at Tescos or Sainsburys and like it as well as what I get in the US.
This is a "must have" for me.  I can't live without my PB&Js!

Foods I miss:

Franco American Spaghetti - YUM (I have immature food tastes!)
Real BBQ Baked Beans (not the Heinz Beans with tomato sauce in the UK...I don't like them.)
Wheaties - Breaksfast of Champions!!!
SmartOnes Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundaes (Weight Watchers)...I haven't seen this treat in the UK yet

Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand,
wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
