Krispy Kremes at Harrods
« on: December 29, 2004, 10:19:06 PM »
Just wanted to let everybody know that my wife and I made a special trip to Harrods yesterday (from Oxford) just to get Krispy Kremes.  They taste just like they do in Winston Salem NC.  I think it was the most popular booth in all of Herrods food halls.
While I'm working hard every day not to be tooooo american (We've avoided McD's so far), this was a little, anonymous, delicious taste of home.
Yum,
Stephan

They have a place in Canary Wharf also. I was told as a friend made the trip and said it took over an hour to get one. She said she now knows what I was talking about when I told her how good they are.

Hi Stephan.. hope you dont think im an ars* for posting this!  Im really pernickety about spelling, but TRY to let it go most times.  However, since you said you were working hard every day not to be Tooooo American, i thought i might point this out to you... 'Herrod's' is actually spelled 'Harrod's', and it's pronounced that way too... with the 'a' instead of the 'e'.  Might help you blend in a bit, if that's what you want to do.

Good luck...

There is a Krispy Kreme at Bluewater in Kent.  I do love a good Krispy Kreme :)

I thought it was really cool (and funny) when Harrod's picked up Krispy Kreme. There's one in the area where Andrew and I are staying in the States, and before we leave, I'll make sure he tries the doughnuts (he's heard enough about them, as it is). The chain is slowly moving north. Krispy Kreme is big in the south; Dunkin Donuts is the big thing farther north...

Boston is SUCH a DD town......i remember when KK came in.....everyone was SO worried.

KK is really popular, but it's more for special things.....on a day to day basis, people will pick up a box of munchkins over a dozen KK due to accesibility.

But i do love them, right out of the oven

MMMMMMMM    ;D

I don't understand why a place like Harrods that does such wonderful food would want to sell Krispy Kremes? I'd choose Harrods pastries (OMG the baklawa mmmmmmmmmmm!) over a yucky ole KK anyday.

The pastries at Harrods are so wonderful!!  I still like the Krispy Kremes, perhaps Harrods is reaching to all.

Am I the only one who prefers Dunkin Donuts to K.K?
I lived in North Carolina for awhile and avoided K.K. at all costs. Maybe it was just the K.K. where we lived but to me their donuts were like sugar coated grease balls. Yuck!

Pebbles,

I agree!  I don't like them either.  I am from the Midwest (USA) and I like a local shop much better!

Nope!  Count me as a DD person too.

Me three!  :)
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
