applying for flr by post and got letter
« on: June 08, 2003, 04:33:32 PM »
1 month ago i posted my application for flr, yesterday 7 June, I recieved a letter from the Home office (ind) stating that they have recieved my application and that in about 4 weeks i could have a decesion or they may contact me if more info is needed (seemed rather routine letter).
From what i read on here (uk-yankee) not heard mention of this letter, so wondering if anyone else has recieved this letter and if i need to be worried about the letter.
any help is appreciated 8)

When I applied for FLR, I also received a letter, however they estimated 16 weeks until my application was processed.  Funny thing was that a week later I got my indefinite leave to remain.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

It's probably a standard letter.  I got one when I applied for Indefinate Leave to Remain.

We had one the same as yours too.

After a month they sent all the paperwork back, as it was on the wrong application form, and some 'evidence' was not acceptable (Many thanks to our 'Specialist Immigration Solicitor!).  When we re-submitted (because ours is not a 'normal' application!) we got the same letter again, but after 7 weeks, they said that the Initial Consideration Department could not deal with it, and it would have to be passed to the Specialist Department, and we would hear no more until March 2004, due to the heavy caseload of Asylum seekers !!!

I am sure that if yours is a 'straightforward' application, the Initial Consideration Unit will pass it, and it will be just a matter of a few weeks until you get your FLR.....Good Luck

thanks again to all for the help and info:)
very usefull:)
I do have 1 thing to agree with, them asylum seekers who come over get all these benefits no questions asked and than there are us who apply the right way and get hassled and all that.
I shall let everyone know what happens, i'm hoping i dont have the drama and hassles i had with the la consulate.

9iron,
What hassle did you have with the LA consulate?

I am just beginning my process of the Fiance' visa and a settlement visa for my son, and I am going to Fed Ex it to them hopefully this week or next.

Thanks,
Vonny

soontobeharrison,
I had lots of trouble with the La Consulate, seems they pick and choose who they want to hassle, some i hear about get thru no problems others like me have to get hassled and get ridiculous demands made.
Originaly i applied to early ( few months before i was to leave for uk), so i wait for 1 1/2 month to my departure date to re-apply (had to pay more the 2nd time).
They nit picked thru everything, my wife (than fiance) wages and banks statements wheren't enough for them they wanted a letter from her employer, and so on
so be very prepared and have everything and more ready.
Leave no doubt you have everything and more that they want.
I had more than enough and they put me thru ..... (insert word).
Best of luck to you, best bet if they start playing games with you is to call and ask for the deputy consulate and talk them.
