Just out of curiosity: Is the point of this link to keep a word going as long as possible, or is it to stump those who add to it? I don't mean this facetiously: I'm still unclear on it.

The way I've always played is to keep it going as long as possible.  No changing letters.  It seems we keep going back to similar word patterns for some reason though.  Hmmm . . . .  :-\\\\
