Anyone for vegetable carbon?

My kid pestered me to buy some black Fanta


Check out the ingredients


Vegetable carbon?  Is that soot and ash?  I wonder what vegetable they are burning?

Activated charcoal (usually sourced from coconut shells) has become the trendy food coloring in a bunch of things. That is allowed in the US and this is just a variation on it. But activated charcoal is used for absorbing meds when you take an overdose, its in my air filters and so on... So if you eat it, best make sure its not on a regular basis or near any essential meds!

who has tasted this? is it just dark coloured orange or is it a different taste altogether?
