I'm so freaking homesick right now.  :(

Or rather, my stomach is.

Oh yum, yum,yum.

I think I will need to make a burger pie. That looks amazing.

I've been watching the Hairy Bikers on Route 66 and all the food looks heavenly.  I keep drooling and drooling over every single bit of food on the show.

I was watching it the other night when they were in Amarillo, which is where my parents live.
So I messaged my mom to tell her what I was watching and what places they were visiting.  My mom was like, 'a local would never eat there!'.  ::) ::) [smiley=laugh3.gif]

I was morally offended that they put tomato into the chilli they were cooking in Palo Duro Canyon.   :o
I know they're English, but... when in Texas, you don't put tomato in chilli!  ;)

I laughed so much when they put tomato in. I thought they were close, until they put the tomato puree in and I said to my hubby, "Oh, that's not Texan. There's no tomatoes in Texan chilli!!!!!"

Let me guess. Did they go to the Big Texan Steak House?

OMG.
That place is awful.  [smiley=puke.gif]

I had a cousin who played football as a tackle on a university team (American football). Really big guy. He was on a road trip and went in there and ate "the" steak dinner, so he got it for free. I had the BBQ, or what they claimed was BBQ, and it was the worst I think I've ever had. Beef that had been cooked, at some time, and then left to sit in a vat of commercial BBQ sauce for God-only-knows how long. I couldn't actually even eat it.

I wouldn't actually EAT there, but last time I was in Amarillo I went to the Big Texan to check out the brewery and beer.  I'll probably go again this time for the same reason.

I think the Hairy Bikers were only really there for the beer as well, and the history of the place... I don't remember seeing them eating the food!  The place in Amarillo where they did eat was the Golden Light Café, and they seemed to like the grub in there.

The brewery/beer looked great.

The rest looked like a tourist trap  :D

Hey, when I'm there, I *am* a tourist!  ;D
I bought Cadillac Ranch and Route 66 t-shirts in their gift shop as presents for people.
And I bought a huge glass gr*wler (I refuse to say/write that word!) of Palo Duro Pale Ale for Howiebabes, and it actually made it back to Scotland unscathed!
