Hope anyone impacted by flooding is okay and safe!

Up here in the Highlands we seem to be living in a perpetual state of wintry mix. It's gross, damp, cold, very very very soggy and muddy.

I keep seeing in the news that south Wales was hit hard.  We've had a lot of rain, but it's just been running off here.  No flooding that I've seen.  But we do live at a reasonably high elevation on a hillside, and I haven't been out since the second round of storms at the weekend.  Maybe my husband has seen more.  Or maybe the flooding is all to the east of us.

My old office in Guildford wouldn't have been accessible from the flooding yesterday. It was really bad there, relocated some of the boats that had been in the canal!

Thankfully where my house is it all runs off, very limited risk of flooding.

I thought I saw a few flakes of snow on the ground just now... but no!  It was cherry blossom!  :D

Hang in there folks, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

The snow was so heavy last night driving home from band. It came out of nowhere thick and fast. Driving all the back roads with no lights (well besides my car),  felt like I was driving in the Millennium Falcon. Luckily all disappeared by this morning.

I grew up in Florida.  Never really had any experience with snow.  I was in my early 20's when I moved to Connecticut. The first time I saw snow flurries I was in the car with my ex husband and my first reaction was to look for a fire to see where the ash was coming from. (Lots of experience with forest fires though.)

It was blue skies this morning. So I told the Daughter to get dressed and we'd go out for lunch. I was waiting for her, so I read a few articles on the computer. When I got up to leave I looked and it was snowing sideways outside.

Sigh.  ::)

So we waited. It passed. We walked over and had a nice lunch, then started back. When it commenced to shooting us with tiny hail from a semi-blue sky. So we ducked into a shop and had a nice chai latte. While the hail bounced around outside for a good ten minutes.

Then it was blue skies, so we walked home. Just as we started up our drive the snowflakes began.

I have never in my entire life seen such schizophrenic weather!

Been on and off snowing (some heavy at times) this week.  Supposed to be the same over the weekend.

The daffodils are out and smiling in the south. Beautiful blue skies with a hint of spring in the air.

Okay, I feel kind of bad now that I felt cold and got goosebumps when I went outside at 6:45am this morning... I was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and sandals and it was 26 Celsius :P

If that has you shivering, how do you cope when you're home?!

It’s more that I’ve acclimatised to the temperatures here, so even though 26 is warm, it feels ‘cold’ relative to the daytime temperatures of 32 Celsius :P. The temperature hasn’t dropped below about 22 Celsius since I arrived there, so it will be an adjustment when I get home!

I don't envy you the return.  It took years before I felt acclimated to the UK climate.  I wouldn't want to have to do it all over again.  But your weather does sound sooo lovely...  How's the humidity there?
