Calling ALL successful I.L.R applicants
« on: November 08, 2019, 08:06:22 PM »
Hi everyone, hope you're all well

Im looking to apply for my ILR at the end of this month and have found some good tips from other peoples experiences on here

Ive complied my own little step by step process, and was hoping to get some clarifications and input from you guys

Many thanks in advance

(copied and pasted from my other post)

0. have all my documentation prepared, ready and scanned (I.E...sponsors supporting letter and passport/ proof of our address/ all our bills and statements/ sponsors work payslips contract etc/ kids birth certs etc/ Am i missing anything???

1. fill in the online application form / choose priority slot for £800 / make an appointment for biometrics and scanning documents (all at the same time on line)

2. attend appointment for scanning documents / attend biometrics appointment

3. attend appointment / interview sheffield for the priority £800

4. wait for response and recorded delivery

Also, what do we receive?, is it a similar card to what we already have from the previous FLR (residence card) ?

0. Prepare all documents ensuring you have everything and everything is correct.
1. Fill in and submit application.
2. Book biometrics appointment. It's at this point if you want to book additional services such as document checking and scanning and priority service.
3. Scan and upload documents (if not chosen scanning service in step 2).
4. Attend appointment at service centre that you chose in step 2 (it is not an interview. They merely scan you passport and do biometrics).
5. Response by email one business day later.
6. BRP sent in post

You will receive a BRP just like the one for your FLR(M) which will just say Indefinite Leave to Remain instead. Ironically it will have an expiry date on but this will be for the actual card itself and not the visa status. Think my wife's said December 31st 2024. They must be introducing a new standard in 2025 as I've seen many that have the same date regardless of when ILR was granted.

Many thanks,

I think I've got my head around it all except..,

After submitting the application on line, I am looking to have the priority service done!
My question is: Do I need the document check and scan service? Is it worth having, as in do they double check everything for you beforehand?
Also, did you get it done and was it worth it?

Cheers

Hi there,

Just wanted to share my experience as I recently went through the process and received my new BRP. :)
- Submitted online application on 11th Nov. and decided to go for Super Priority to avoid the wait.
- Scheduled biometrics appointment for 17th Nov. Uploaded documents as needed.
- Went to biometrics appointment on 17th Nov. Have your passport and appointment confirmation ready. Also took the uploaded documents just in case.
- Received an e-mail on 18th Nov. stating ILR had been granted.
- Received new BRP on 20th Nov.

I did not choose to pay for the document check and scanning service but I did pay for the SMS service. Unless you are absolutely uncertain or do not have specific documents that required, I would say save your money. It's up to you though.

If you do have any questions about documents, post in this forum. Good luck!

We had the document check but no scanning service. I have a scanner at work so came in after hours to have peace and quiet uploading things. Word of warning, if you do this then they check your documents before your appointment (72 hours to be exact). And also note. They are not checking you have everything, they are checking it is uploaded correctly and is clear

Thanks guys.
Very helpful. I’m planning to upload documents myself in the next day or two. Documents I can upload, however I was wondering, as you’re probably aware a lot of documents are emailed to you and I have them files saved; do they need to be a pdf format or should they be printed and then uploaded (scanned etc)

?
Many thanks guys.
Also, I guess if the extra scanned and sms service isn’t too much I may have that done!

Hi mate, in relation to documentation, they ask for six pieces of documents on both our names or 2 each per individual name. Am I right in thinking it could be the same bill for example, council tax for 2018/ council tax for 2019 ( 2 documents although both from council tax)
So it would be fine using the same company / supplier but 2 different letters. I have multiple  gas & elec bills/ water rate/ council tax/ 1 joint bank account
I’m hoping that multiple bills although months apart should be okay. Thanks in advance.

The requirements are:
- 6 items in each name (either jointly addressed, or 2 separately addressed items dated around the same time as each other, or a combination of both joint and individual items, making 6 in each name)
- spread evenly over the last 2.5 years (so one in each name, every 5 months)
- from at least 3 different official sources (i.e. for joint items, 2 bank statements, 2 electricity bills, 2 council tax bills, or if they are individual items, you might have 6 bank statements, 2 electricity bills, 1 council tax bill, 1 NHS letter, 1 HMRC letter, 1 water bill)

So, for example, if you are applying in December 2019, you will want mail from the following months:

June 2017
1. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in June 2017

Nov 2017
2. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in Nov 2017

Apr 2018
3. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in Apr 2018

Sept 2018
4. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in Sep 2018

Feb 2019
5. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in Feb 2019

July 2019
6. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in July 2019

Optional extra:
Dec 2019
7. Joint in both names, or one in each name, both dated in Dec 2019

Hi Ksand

Hope all is well with you!
Great breakdown. Would the covering letter (page 1 with name and address) of mail be sufficient or should I scan all the irrelevant bits from the latter pages?

Send the full thing, not just the first page.

just another bit of reference - I paid for the scanning service because I don't have a scanner and it was a nightmare to try and get all the documents scanned for me. It was probably the best £40 I spent.

Do what works for you!
Sept '11: premium service same-day tier 4 visa granted in NYC
July '13: tier 4 visa - applied from boston
October '14: FLRM - applied priority in sheffield office
March '17: FLRM 2 - applied priority in sheffield office
Sept 2019: IRL, priority at Croydon, granted same day
October 2019: submitted naturalisation application
January 2020: citizenship approved!
March 2020: last citizenship ceremony before covid :-O

It sounds like you've got it covered and the best advice given so far. I waited 3 months to get my ILR and I have to say in hindsight, paying the priority is the best option if you have the funds. I also have to agree paying for the scanning was money well spent!

My advice is getting the checklist from your application and following it with exactly what's needed and you will be find as long as you meet the income requirement and haven't broken any of the rules etc.

Good luck,
Elsa
