My husband and I just went through the same thing this past fall.  We originally planned the fiancee route with a potential wedding in the UK spring 2020.  But after reading everything on this forum, we also switched our plans.   We did a courthouse wedding in the states the day before Thanksgiving when he was here visiting.  Not our original plan at all! and it was interesting having to explain to my family that we were getting married haha there were a lot of opinions, but gotta do what you gotta do haha

We're applying for my spousal visa in January right when I get back from the UK after the holidays.  Even though it wasn't what we originally planned,  I am so glad we did it.  The fiancee visa seems to add in a whole extra layer of unnecessary stress.  This visa process is stressful enough, so no need to go through it twice if you don't have to.
