Impending payslip date discrepancy
« on: December 19, 2019, 11:17:45 AM »
Hi folks,

Just had a note through from one of the bigwigs here that although our pay is going in today, the payslip is going to be dated 31st December "due to a change in HMRC reporting requirements".

I've emailed to see if I can get a "wet ink" letter clarifying this ready for our visa application in the Summer, as the December payslip (with anomaly) will have to be included. The amounts will match between the bank statement and the payslip.

Does anyone know what the clarification letter should look like for this, or would it suffice to just say that although the payslip says X date, the pay went in on Y date?

Thanks, and Happy Christmas!

Well, I've managed to get a letter from payroll already (good stuff!). It reads:

Dear biscuits,

This letter is to confirm that due to a change in reporting requirements for UK employers that pay early at Christmas, your December 2019 payslip will show a payment date of XX December 2019. However I confirm that Employer Name December 2019 pay day date remains as YY December 2019 and the change is for HMRC administrative purposes only.

Yours sincerely,

Deputy Head of Payroll

Would this be sufficient to address the issue?

Thanks again :)

Does anyone know what has to be done about the date of the letter? Ist it normally all company ketters should be dated no more than 28 days before the application is submitted?

Yes, the letter must be dated within 28 days of applying online.

Thanks so much for your feedback ksand24.

Is this the case for my payroll letter for this payslip as it is referring to that payslip? I think payroll will be alright with re-issuing it nearer the time if I have to. Just have to remember to do so!

I'll get the payslips stamped nearer the time anyway... whenever that sweet spot is (mid-June, looking at the dates my bank statements arrive!)
