My allergies are going mad, so I am struggling to not scratch at my face!

Ah, allergy season! 

We've been pulling books off of shelves that we have been somewhat lax in dusting for the last couple of years. I've been sneezing like crazy from the dust. So I was in the hallway on the way to the shop and had a heck of a sneezing fit... never saw the neighbors move that fast since we got here. 

And, if the news is to be believed, all Italy is now locked down. With the north having more people needing ICU hospital beds than there are available.

That's not good.

The Italian lock down was reported by all news outlets so you saying that you were suspicious of the news reports is bizarre.

I did. The more that stories like this are spread the more insensitivity is built into the public’s perception that fake news is everywhere and you can’t tell the difference.

This time around, the president is proclaiming at his rallies that coronavirus is a “hoax” constructed by the Democrats. Conspiracy theorists on YouTube say it’s a false flag (I’m not even going to link to the videos), and QAnon theorists on Reddit are regurgitating the insanity that it’s all part of another deep state plot to overthrow the government. Other false stories have deduced that the Defense Department created the virus to target China. Millions of tweets argue a number of conspiracy theories, including that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation cooked up the virus—for what purpose, God only knows. Rush Limbaugh is telling his millions of listeners that media emphasis on the virus is designed to destabilize the stock markets in a threat to Trump’s presidency, and that coronavirus is “the common cold, folks.” (Fact-check: It is not.)

The patient, in his early 80s, was being cared for at Watford General Hospital and had underlying health conditions.

As of 9am on Tuesday, 373 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK, up from 319 at the same point on Monday, and six people have died.

There have now been 26,261 tests carried out in the UK, of which 25,888 were confirmed negative.

The patient, in his early 80s, was being cared for at Watford General Hospital and had underlying health conditions.

So... Does that mean the person in Watford was already in hospital when he caught it? Concerning if that's the case

Welp, this doctor confirmed that fear. Patients on open wards are coming down with the virus when they had been admitted for a while and no direct contact with known cases.
