the same people buying up all the pasta and toilet paper are the ones that would call up Tesco and lie about having a disability in order to get to the front of the grocery line.
I disagree with you on this one.  The people buying up all the pasta and toilet paper are all of us because we are no longer eating at restaurants and pooping at work ( I prefer to poop while on the clock).  We are all facing a possible two weeks without being able to shop if someone in the house gets sick so it is perfectly rational to buy extra.  The shortages went on well past the time limits were put in place and nobody had hoarded anything for two weeks.  All those facebook posts of overflowing trollies and covidiot shaming were all social media morons posting the same fake pictures over and over again at each other.  Aft

The real issue was the supermarkets had (in typical British fashion) built the supply chain with no additional capacity  in order to save money.  As soon as there was the tiniest increase in demand, especially with bulky toilet paper, everything just collapsed. The supermarkets let us down and continue to do so and were perfectly happy for us to blame each other.   My branch of Tesco has no hand sanitizer out for people to use and makes no attempt to enforce any social once in the store.  Not surprising since before CV they made no attempt to police handicap spaces and the annoying pick/up drop off space in front of the store which turned into reserved parking for extreme assholes.

The government then provides all the email addresses to the supermarkets, who compare them against their databases of people who have signed up for online shopping.
I would image that the government probably supplies a hash value (one way encryption) of each of the emails, then the grocery stores hash the emails of all their customers and then compare the hashes.  That way the grocery stores can only see the plain text of email addresses on the list that they knew already and not the entire list of millions of emails.  Can you image  the evil that Tesco could do with that entire list?

I disagree with you on this one.

I think you're right about the supply chain, jimbo, but I also still think people would lie to get to the front of the delivery line.

I definitely don't want Tesco or Aldi having to determine who should or shouldn't get priority delivery slots.

Spare me your IT mumbo jumbo, nerd. Where's my toilet paper delivery!? 😉

Cool. I was just curious. My husband has his 3 autoimmune diseases and I keep asking him if he'll sign up for it, just to see if it can help us or not. I really don't like having to stay up til midnight to book. Which is what I'll be doing tonight so we can get a delivery for 29 April.

We had to take Mylo (our whippet) to the vet Friday before last and they did something similar. Husband had to go to a specific bay and the vet came out to get him. He only got the appointment because we suspected an impacted anal gland. It had burst and after his antibiotics and pain meds, he is well on his way to getting better. I hope they can help your kitty!
Your husband should definitely fill out the form! And contact your council if there are any specific things you need help with (like prescription pick up). We have a FB group for my street now so everyone is helping each other when something comes up. :)

Also, this seems potentially relevant. Social distancing when running/biking should be more than 2M.

God, my next door feed is absolutely full of posts about people moaning about using the parks.  Joggers VS dog walkers VS cyclists.  Every single post is like this:
" I am a <insert group here> and went to the busiest park in the borough and was amazed that it was completely full of <insert name of other two groups here>.  Could we ban these people ?"

We've got a town Facebook group that is full of the same thing. The people who post in the group are among the most law-abiding, rule-following, morally upright people in the whole of the British Isles, and they see it as their mission in life to continually point out the many flaws and poor behaviors of their neighbors.

Same here lol and you have to laugh as well because you think "why is it okay for YOU to be out and about doing xyz, but you're happy to point out what they are doing wrong"

Yep, all the local groups are the same!

I had to get fuel before bringing kitty to the vet. After not going anywhere for the better part of a month I was worried the car wouldn't start. All good! Bringing kitty in now. I really hope they figure out why she keeps losing weight.

No, it's been over a period of 8 months and she has signs of IBS (always has). I think she needs different food, and/or is possibly also having teeth issues because she stopped eating her dry food.

With disabilities people should be given the benefit of the doubt, the number who would lie are small. By only allowing the limited conditions on the govt list to access what is an essential service to many (blind, homebound etc) means they are being discriminatory. I hope there are lawsuits because they have handled this horribly and with out accessibility in mind at all. There are huge numbers of disabled people who cannot use phones, and if the only way to access customer service is by phone that is in violation of the equalities act.

Those registered blind and who live on their own, seem to be getting calls from their council to check they are getting their shopping if they don't have partners/ other family/neighbours/local groups, getting this for them.

Yes, except for the people who were privately managing their care (which is a lot) are not getting help in that way, and many have lost their independence because of this.

Fingers crossed they can sort out what it is for sure today and that it's something they can easily treat.
